Most days I have a very hard time getting the shift lever to come out of park. The problem has continually gotten worse. The first time it happened I had to completely remove the cover of the shift gear and push the override button to be able to get it out of park. Very annoying!! Especially when you've taken it to a Ford dealership to have it fixed and they can't tell you what's wrong - because it doesn't show up on their computer. Really?! You can't hire a mechanic to actually find a problem and fix it without relying on a computer?

Five Hundred Limited 3.8lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

Cannot get the stick shift lever to move from the park position to the reverse position.

Sometimes it takes several minutes fiddling with the lever to finally get it in reverse.

It happens quite often and is major problem because you don't know if one day it won't move at all. It's just a matter of time.
