The transmission is slipping on this car, whether going on a incline or decline. Seems like the engine is dragging. I'm surprised we all haven't been entered in a class action suit against Ford for this. They seem to be oblivious to it or just done care.

Talk about ridiculous, it has happened for the third time this week. I have no way to pay for repairs and no guarantee that it wont happen again. I am pissed.

This was the second time this happened. I am on a fixed income & to come up with thousands of dollars to have the car fixed was ridiculous. A recall should have been made.

When I bought the 2006 Ford 500 I started having problems with the transmission as early 9000 miles. Took it to dealer they said computer showed nothing wrong with transmission. I continued to have problems took the car to 3 or 4 dealers, they said nothing wrong with transmission. My car has 54997.8 miles. My warranty was finished years ago, now the transmission is so bad that I can't even drive the car. That's why the car has only 54977.8 miles on it. I will have to pay $4,000 to $5,000 to repair it.

About 3 hundred miles ago the transmission went so bad the car sits in my garage. Thanks Ford for fixing my car when you knew the transmission was a lemon and did not fix it. I am looking for an attorney to represent me against Ford. I bought Ford cars all my life, a 79 Ford Ltd Landau, 88 Ford Ranger STX, another Ford Ranger, 69 Ford Galaxy and 2006 Ford 500,1966 Ford Mustang.

I will never buy Ford cars or trucks unless Ford resolves the transmission problems to my car.

P.S. All the cars and trucks from Ford had transmission problems. When you step on the gas pedal the car jerks and you lose power and the car has no transmission power that you roll the car to the side away from traffic.

Five Hundred SEL 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

Transmission slipped trying to merge on expressway going from 4th to 5th gear at 50 mph. Engine revs with no power. I had to coast and pull over to assess the problem. Very dangerous situation that could prove fatal under other circumstances. Prognosis grim. Full rebuild of transmission at 90k is a tragedy. Estimates are over $4k.

No recalls for this problem which many people have reported. The 6 speed transmission is just junk. I wonder where it was made? Apparently, the CVT model is worse.

I have owned 5 Taurus models over 20 years and only one ever had a trans issue. My 2000 Taurus was junked at 186k miles with nary a trans issue.

Needless to say, I am upset with Ford and I am stuck with a $4000 car that will need $4000 in repairs to keep it on the road.

Without question the worst car I've ever owned. Bought used, was fine till the warranty ran out, then started slipping. To repair would cost nearly what car is worth (can't afford) and can't afford to buy another car with what I still owe for this one. On top of that I now have a short in the instrument cluster. Piece of junk that dealer stuck me with and refuses to help out. It's our only car so we have no choice but to hang onto it till replacing is affordable.

Excelent car. Design, mpg, space, engine. Transmission sucks! I found out this is a common problem in Five Hundreds, talked with dealer for guarantee and they did not recognized the problem. This is a shame for Ford.

Five Hundred V6

  • Automatic transmission

With 68000 miles the transmission was slipping badly -- making a terribly "thump" in the rear when shifting gears. The transmission had to be overhauled at a cost of $4,200 and car was kept for one week!
