The A/C has never worked properly (bought the car used in winter so really could not tell it was not working). At low speeds in @ town stop/go traffic, it blows warm air. On the Interstate, it works fairly well. I have read and seen on Youtube what the typical problem is, i.e., a small valve on the back side of the compressor that tends to get stuck which results in what I have just described above. Other issues with this vehicle are mentioned in different categories (CVT transmission, lurching forward severely, banging transmission when shifting into a higher gear). For what it is worth, I would avoid buying this vehicle (any year); is truly a piece of crap.

Anytime the temperature went above 75 degrees F outside, the air conditioner would blow nothing but warm air out. I first took the car to my local Ford dealer to have it serviced. They told me that the expansion joint was cracked and all of the freon had leaked out. They replaced it and refilled the freon and the warranty (which came with the car, having bought it used three months ago) paid for only the part. I unfortunately do not know the cost of the work.

Two days later, when I turned the A/C on, I heard a terrible bang from the engine area and the air was still warm. We stuck a thermometer in the vent and it read 80 degrees, no cooler than it was outside. We took it back to Ford and they told me the compressor and the dryer were shot and needed replaced. The total cost for Ford parts would have been around $1,000. The warranty insisted they get aftermarket parts or they would not pay for it. Ford agreed to put aftermarket parts in the car and it now works fine. However, no water drips from the compressor on hot days as it should, and this still concerns me. But the A/C is now freezing cold and working fine.
