Driving down the road and the car starts to slow down, even with me pushing the gas. I pulled over safely and the car stalled. I turned the key off thinking it was going to be like last time and I would just have to start it up again. Not this time, it acted like it was out of gas but with a half a tank that could not be it. I later got the car back to my house and started looking around. I found a rubber hose that was being compressed in when ever I tried starting the car. Later I found that the hose lead back to the gas line. I then over time started looking this up on the net and found out that it could be a recall and I am writing to let you know my story.

While driving my 2000 Ford Focus, I came to a four way stop and the car ceased to work, as if I had turned off the key...no sputtering, just stopped. I restarted the vehicle and it lurched forward, died again, just as before. As I looked out the front windshield, I observed smoke coming from the hood of the car. I exited the car and flames were coming from the wheel wells. I immediately called 911. People began spraying water on the car from garden hoses, two people stopped with fire extinguishers and nothing put out the flames. When the fire department arrived, within 10 minutes, the entire front of the car was destroyed. Pieces in the engine compartment were melting and falling off the engine onto the ground. Police arrived to direct traffic. The car was towed to wendle Ford, and my insurance company removed the vehicle to their premises the next day. I still have no idea what could have caused this problem in a five year old vehicle with no prior problems. As I have seen several other incidents of fire in this vehicle, the government should make Ford Motor Company investigate why this is happening before someone gets killed!

I have had this car since 2003 and it has been nothing but trouble. I have had it into the shop for many of the previously stated repairs- ignition lock, revving/ gas line sticking, broken windshield with no outside cause, cracked side mirrors from cold, etc. This week my rear window fell into the door and would not roll up. The estimate is close to $400. I have had other problems, so many I can't recall them all now. I would advise others to avoid Ford products in the future- I certainly will.

Currently own a 2000 Ford Focus wagon with approximately 57,000 miles on it. In the last 3 months we have had 2 breakdowns that could of very easily ended tragically. 1st: 3 months ago the front driver side suspension spring sheared in half. The sharp shear of the spring went into the tire and ended ripped it apart. Thank god my wife and kids were only going 25 mph. 2nd: 1 week ago the fuel line clip attaching the fuel line to the gas tank burst into pieces in a parking lot of a local store as my wife was driving around. Again, thank god nobody was smoking nearby.

After driving to work and parking in the parking garage, went inside for about 20 minutes. Came back out to car to find a puddle of gasoline which had leaked from the fuel tank. A very dangerous fire hazard. The exhaust system was extremely hot and fuel had leaked all over it. Had to have the vehicke towed to the repair garage.. the problem ended up being that the cheap plastic fuel line quick-connector coming from the fuel pump to the fuel line had broken, causing the fuel line to come apart from the fuel pump, allowing fuel to spray all over the tank and exposed parts under the vehicle as well as the concrete garage floor. A spark or lit cigarette butt would have been disastrous. Fortunately a fire or explosion did not occur or their surely would have been fatalities.

Car started stalling before it ran out of warranty. Dealer replaced fuel pump that was all they could figure out. That lasted as long as the warranty did. I personaly replaced the fuel tank and fuel pump and fuel filters each time. The car has continued to stall sense under warranty. The dealer can't figure out the problem, they said that they have nothing but problem with the Ford Focus. I've contacted Ford Corp. And you get no help from them. The car has stalled on several occasion as long as the car sit for a long period of time it will start and run for awhile then it will do it again. I cannot afford to take it the dealer each time to tell me nothing is wrong with it. This problem could end in an accident and possible injury. I hope this doesn't take a class action suit against Ford to get this problem corrected.
