Left rear bearings are howling, there has been a recall on cars made at the wayne stamping plant where my car was made, and in the time frame my car was made. I never received a recall notice. I have called the dealer and there are unwilling to repair at their cost. In many other states Ford replaces the wheel bearings. The result of a non-repair is the wheel separating from the car. I am petitioning to have my car included in the recall. 2000 Ford Focus VIN #[xxx]. updated 07/25/2012 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I own a 2000 Ford Focus that is 3 1/2 years old and has defective rear wheel bearings. They were replaced 2 timse on the rear left and 1 time on the right rear while under warranty. June 3rd the rear wheel bearing started making a noise so took it to a garage where they said I had bad rear wheel bearing and I immediately took it to hagerstown Ford who confirmed on June 4th 2004 that both rear bearing were bad and that it was no longer covered under warranty. I could have lost both wheels and been in a serious accident and these parts have been known to be defective on this model. Ford would not cover the repair and this car has according to their record had 3 left rear bearings replaced and 2 rear right bearings replaced by Ford. How can they keep putting defective parts that are a safety issue on cars and not take responsibility for it.

We had to place the 6th set of tires on our car. We haven't had a single set of tires last longer than 20,000 miles. We have our tires rotated and balanced and front-end aligned regularly. We have replaced the front brake pads 5 times. We have had all 5 recalls repaired on the car. When I had the rear bearing replaced under warranty the technician told me that they had to order emergency bearings overnight because it was not safe to drive. When I inquired about a rental car, he offered to reassemble my car and let me drive it home (even though it was unsafe)! this has always been a loud car, but a week ago there was a loud roaring, grinding noise up front that gets especially loud when I turn to the right. After having a technician look at it, he says the front bearings are gone and the front rotors and brake pads also need to be replaced again. I am in the same situation as everyone else: Because this car has had so many problems and complaints it is only valuing at $3000 after 3 years. Ford should be forced to do something to satisfy all of these dissatisfied customers.

Consumer was on 7th set of tires at 60,000, an alignment with each set. Radio had been replaced twice/ brakes had been completely replaced twice/ wheel bearings had been replaced, and ignition was replaced once after vehicle had been towed. Low and behold, consumer's Focus was sitting in driveway needed to be towed for the same problem again. Car was getting horrible gas mileage, sometimes had brake failure which caused 2 accidents. Also, lugs:nuts had been replaced. The car would sometimes stall for no apparent reason, and was in need of an alternator.

Gas mileage is poor on this size veh--motor kicks into neutral while driving at higher speeds. Dealer keeps telling me there is no problem/cannot duplicate, 4 incidents, this is very freighting. Especially in heavy traffic & cannot get off the road fast. Brakes wear between 16000 and 18000 miles with normal driving. The motor belt had to be replaced at 22000 miles. This never happened so soon with any vehicle I have ever owned. Repairs and services are very expensive, many safety recalls and product warnings that take time to repair. The dealer has a problem making sure the parts are available when I make an appointment. The wheel bearings have been replaced several times and sound like they may be going bad again! I do not feel safe in this vehicle. What if something fails while myself or my family are in this vehicle. This vehicle has depreciated at such a drastic rate, that I would be wise to trade it for another vehicle. I feel it is in direct relation to all the safety issues with this vehicle. **dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**763169
