Here is the full story:
When I turn the ignition on, the 6 disc carriage rotates for 5 to 10 cycles. If I had been listening to a cd, maybe listened to the first few tracks, stop somewhere turn the engine off and take the keys w/. Upon return the cycle of death will begin again. It no longer restarts at the point it left off. Always restarts at the beginning of track one.
This is curious because it is not just a memory issue. The clock does not lose it's memory, the presets are still intact for the radio.
Cd's sometimes have a crackle in the background, like errors or record pops. It is an old intermittent issue that has not re-occurred since the cycling problem started.
The clock always gains time. Even if I reset it back to the correct time, it starts to slowly get faster. Before you know it, it's 5 or 8 minutes ahead.
Not the first electrical issue. Also, early Alt. failure, power outlet blew fuse, so did owner.
