Focus 2.0L

  • 38,000 miles

I was driving with my three boys when the Focus started jerking, lost power, and died on railroad tracks. I had it towed to Goodyear, and they said the fuel pump fuse blew. They sent me off with a new fuse, and it blew again. I took it back and they replaced the fuel pump.

After getting the fuel pump and fuse replaced at Goodyear, the fuel pump fuse blew again. We let the car sit a few days trying to figure out what to do with it when my husband decided to drive it again to see what happens. Well, the car lost power and shut down going over railroad tracks again. We had it towed to a new mechanic now because Goodyear refused to take it back. This new mechanic has replaced the fuel pump again, and he now he has to replace some module inside the fuel tank that Ford didn't know existed when he called to ask. It's been a month since Goodyear replaced the fuel pump! We had barely driven the car since! I'm scared to death how much it's going to cost now because it's been sitting at the mechanic's for a week! If I didn't owe money on this car, I'd have junked it already. Focus ZX4 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I HAD a 2005 Ford Focus. This is the cheapest car in America. Its nothing but a upgraded Escort. (Dont see those on the road any more, wonder why). Now I bought it brand new. The cheapest made interior. High heels punched holes in carpet, water from AC drips in the damn car on the cheap ass carpet. The side mirror feel off from hitting a bugging going like 3 MPH. After having putting about 50,000 you would think it reached 200,000 miles. Fuel pump went out $575 + $98 for rental + $75 for towing. Three months later. I am on the side of the road again for the same reason, car stalls cuts off no warning. Two kids in the car 1and 5 years old. Another $372 to $75 for towing. Month later my car was making a rattle noise. Took it to Ford. They never told me what is was but charged me $55. I was relief from the cost before. Two weeks later my car smells like exhaust while in traffic taking my kids to school, then of course my car stops. I see liquid coming from my hood. Lifted my hood and see the oil cap was off my engine and oil went everywhere. Then Ford states that would not have looked under my hood while it was in the shop? it was going to cost me another $572 to fix my car. Needless to say the car is been there since 7/25/08. I will never buy a Ford and that will be my last.

Focus ZX4 4C

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,770 miles

I have been reading complaints on the 2000/ 2001 ford focus that are very similar to the problem I am having with my 2005 car. I purchased it brand new and the first time it stalled out on me it had a little more than 4,000 miles and happened when I was driving in traffic at 30-35 mph. I called the dealer and was told probably bad gas and if it doesn't happen when they have it there is nothing to fix. Well 2 years later with 17,777 miles it has stalled out randomly in different situations at different speeds, etc. The dealer has replaced the fuel pump in January 07. It was running great then 2 months later it stalled again. The dealer is taking the car in but again I am told they can't replace anything unless the code comes up. I am wondering if there are similar complaints with the 2005 models as with the 2000/2001. I actually like the car and I really hate that this is happening because I am not comfortable driving this vehicle.
