Driving on the freeway at approx 60 mph heard a very loud noise and all of sudden my 2007 Ford Focus came to a complete stop with the seatbelt becoming very tight against me and jerking me, within a few seconds the car was able to start again and it informed me that my airbags had been deployed. The dash dropped and the air vents cracked, my steering wheel has shifted. This has left marks on my neck, chest and pains throughout my neck and back. Possible whiplash. Car is going to dealership tomorrow, hopefully I will have some kind of explanation for what happened.

On June 13, 2009, my husband, my 16 month old son and I were driving on I95 S from North Carolina to South Carolina when my rear left tire blew out. This sent us fish tailing across all lanes and finally when the back of my car spun around into the shoulder, the car flipped onto the driver side, then onto the top of the car, then finally landing back upright. Not during any time did the airbags deploy on any side of my car.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the driver's side air bag sensor would continuously illuminate on the instrument panel. The dealer removed the entire dashboard in order to replace the mechanism. The repairs were covered under warranty. Less than a year later, the vehicle was taken to the dealer again for routine maintenance to the steering wheel. It was discovered that the passenger side rear door would not lock and the driver's side air bag sensor continued to illuminate on the instrument panel. The dealer could not duplicate the failures. A diagnostic was performed; however, no error codes were produced. The contact also stated that while making left or right turns, the steering wheel felt as if it would pop off. The dealer found a defect with the steering column and had the component replaced. The service manager at the Ford dealer stated that there may be an issue with the air bags for a plethora of reasons. The contact stated that the driver of the vehicle does not feel safe operating the vehicle. He was very leary of operating the vehicle on the highway due to the fact of not having a functioning air bag in the event of a crash. No additional repairs have been made to the air bags. The failure mileage was 31,000 and current mileage was 53,786.

Driving on the interstate with a friend the air bag deployed while driving 65 mph we hit nothing thank god it was not the drivers air bag the car is only 8 months old we have a bumper to bumper warranty with Ford Motor Company. They would not look at it and told us to go to our insurance company. We had to pay a $500 they found that the computer recorded a head on accident which will not be erased so the car value is now lost they took pictures of everything showing no accident at all the insurance company changed all the sensors and then the air bag light would not go off it indicated a passenger in the seat so the sent it to thoroughbred Ford and said they did not care what they had to do but fix the car so the did. It cost me $500 deductible and the insurance co $1,800 so now the are waiting for Ford to except liability. We no not feel our son is safe driving this car I feel most accidents should be looked at as which happened first an accident or the air bag. We could have lost four young men because of this I am very angry with this total process it took 3 weeks to get the car back this also involved missing work classes and alot of trouble with transportation I wish they would take this car off the road so if and when it is sold I do not have that burden of someone else's life on my head and heart.
