CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.

The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.

And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

Alright so I'm feeling good cuz its a Friday, but suddenly got ruined because I had dentist appointment. The time was around 8:30 in the morning and my appointment was at 9. It was also raining outside REALLY HARD. Luckily I had my sunroof closed and my windows up, or that's what I thought. As soon as I reached the car door and opened it, my WHOLE ENTIRE CAR WAS SOAKED. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE WINDOWS OR THE SUNROOF BUT......OMFG I was swole. I kinda had a feeling it was the sunroof. My windows were shut tight but I heard so much about the sunroof and how they were EXPLODING. anyway, I don't know what to do

After my last oil change in late May 2014, we had a HEAVY rain. When I started my car that morning and moved forward, water splashed onto my left foot from under the dash! I looked up and saw water stains on the ceiling around the driver's side door, across to the ceiling on the driver's side above the front windshield.

I checked all the doors and windows ....they were all closed properly. I couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. We had a pretty nice June weather-wise, and I hadn't noticed it again until the first 2 weeks in July brought heavy rains again... My left foot gets "puddled" on every morning and I've also noticed that when I open the back door on both the passenger and the driver's side there's water running out the door bottom and puddled on the door jams.

The car is a musty mess ... it's going to the dealer (Shaker Family Ford in Watertown CT) for a review today. When I booked the appointment they said they hadn't heard of the issue before....apparently, they're not reading your site!

I keep you posted on the outcome.

202 Ford Focus, we noticed water puddles in passenger front and rear floorboards. We vacuumed the water out and days later appeared again so we took out the passenger seat and lifted up the floor and it was completely full of water. I took it to the dealership left for 2 days they ran water tests and could not find where the water was coming from. I picked the car up from the dealership(car STILL full of water) yes they didn't even clean up the water as wires were submerged in water. I took the car home cleaned all the water out and my husband had to actually drill holes in my floorboard so water will drain. FORD had no solution and no way to fix my problem and offered no help.

All 4 doors have moisture damage on the doors and a distinct musty scent in the car after it rains. Reported to the dealer, he washed the car and got no repeat. Has occurred almost every time it rains...no water inside the car though. Just an annoying water run discoloration to the doors.

There is a leak some where in the back hatch area. All of my son's medical equipment has been leaked on several different times. The service tech informed me there was not a leak back there and I must have spilt something. Go figure! I guess the next time it rains I will go sit at the dealership!

This happened the first time last weekend. Now it happened again so I got on the web and found that it's happened to someone else. So I know it's a defect from the manufacturer.

I traded in my Dad's car that he owned before he died. There was nothing wrong with it. Now I have a defective car that I am sure the dealer knew about. I'm mad and can't do anything about it. I was wondering what was wrong with the car being someone had just returned. It's a 2012. You wouldn't expect problems like this from a new car. I've never had a new car before. Well, it's new to me being it's a 2012.

Focus Titanium 2.0L 4 cyl

After I took my car in for MY FIRST oil change/inspection, it rained heavily. The next time I went out to my car, I opened the passenger door to a deluge of water from the inside, between the door and the body of the car (at the bottom). The interior was dry and the door was dry, so I'm not sure how the pool of water go there. They are looking at the issue now and I will update when I know more.
