CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford changed a lot of things for its 3rd generation, just none of them were a good idea.

The transmission tends to hesitate and jerk when accelerating. The new electronically-driven power steering can fail suddenly and without warning. Even Ford's SYNC can be a headache. Actually, scratch that last one — it's always been a headache.

Drove to work fine, on my way home, alert comes on steering wheel fault and then I can barely turn the wheel. I panic and pull into auto zone, which they say I may need power steering fluid so I buy a bottle. Look in the car book to see where to put it, turns out this car isnt equip with that, I have an esp! get in the car again and everything is fine no alert and I can drive it fine. Next day I go to drive and again I have an alert and can not drive!!! this is my 1st car ever and in the 2yrs I've had it nothing but recalls on it! this needs to be a recall to many are complaining about the same issue. What if this happen on a highway!"!"! on top of this I'm still waiting for a fix to the gas gauge issue, and the transmission was supposedly fix but it's still doing the same thing after a full stop, it has a hard time going again!!!!! I will never by a Ford vehicle again

On Friday, May 30. 2019, around 5:00pm, I was driving to a family event. I had just stopped for gas about 15 minutes prior to the incident happening. As ibwas driving and I came to a stop. Just as the light turned green, signaling for me to go, and I released my foot from the brake and began to accelerate, my car stalled. I was in the middle of a very busy intersection. I immediately put on my hazard lights, put my car in neutral, and began pushing it out of the street. There was smoke coming from the hood that eventually dissipated. I made several attempts to restart my car and it never would. I called my roadside assistance provider and had my car towed home. I have been trying to figure out the issue when today I had a reader plugged into my car to test for any error codes. Surely, codes P0100, P2227 and P0456 all came up. As I researched these codes, I was brought to the NHTSA website and found thid recall that I was never notified of and there's no remedy for. I am without transportation.

The transmission has been giving us problems since we got the vehicle. Right now, it is again in the shop. It is repaired and then there is another problem with the same system. When we take it into the shop, numerous problems show up. We have had the vehicle for only a little over a year so it would seem to indicate that there are serious problems.

Since ive purchased my Ford Focus back in 2013 I have taken the car back to Ford dealership on numerous occasions in relation to the faulty transmission and electrical issues. On my 5th attempt my transmission was replaced. This was around the end of 2017 to 2018. On May 2nd 2019 I was driving to work and as soon as I turned on the car the windsheild wipers started to go off and for some reason I could not turn them off. Once I arrived onto my work campus I turned the cornee to park my car... when all of a sudden my car flashed an error message on my dash stating the following, " transmission failure repair now". I calmly parked the car and within seconds of turning off the car I see smoke and then flames from the bottom of my engine hood. I quickly exited the car abd the flames got bigger and bigger. The fire department was called and the had to smash the back window due to the flames that had over taken the front of the car. Unfortunetly my car is not a total loss. I was at the end of my contract agreement with Ford and inly having to pay 6400 left on my loan. Ive called their customer service to complain and see what can be done and was told I would get a letter in 2 weeks by their legal council. This has caused me to delay my entry into nursing school since now I have to work to handle the car the new car I just had to buy. I need transportation for work and Ford took that from me. Ive now seeked out a lawyer to see what can be done. With all the times I asked for help and I ended up seeing my car go up in smoke. Im just so thankful I was able to get out iof the car in time. But believe me im still shaken and this has caused me to never buy Ford again.

My current problem is after fueling up my car it starts and then stalls, then the next restart it turns over about 5 to 10 seconds and starts and then has a erratic idle and it may stall again, or if I manage to take off it will run ok, unless I have to stop within a 100 yards, and it then may stall again, or have a erratic idle around 2000 rpms, then idles down to the 750 area if I'm lucky, only after fueling up. Every start afterwards starts and runs fine until the next gas up. I have an engine code I believe they said was a evap code, my fuel tank is starting to concave on the bottom. I talked to my dealership and they said I'm not part of the recall, although he said I fit all the parameters of the recall, but my VIN number its in the system. I'm looking for help and hope someone can contact Ford ! ps this is on going and very dangerous! thank you, very disappointed in Ford. Ps ps the transmission is another forty pages of info if you ever have the time to talk.

Transmission has never worked correctly, brought into Ford to have recall of part of transmission repaired. Never shifted correctly into next gear, sometimes jerked and sputtered and makes grinding noise and was told that it was because engine was 4 cylinder. Early in 2018, electrical system shut down. Dash lights of defrost, door lock no longer worked. Trunk stopped opening, radio stopped working and all that was heard was loud static sporadically with or without radio being on, and dome lights no longer worked either. Brought into Ford dealer and was told car needed new clutch (due to transmission never working correctly) and was no longer covered under warranty. Was told the electrical system failures were due to battery, which was replaced outside of dealer with no fix to problems at all. Was told need to replace radio which was no longer any good, car less than 5 years old at this time and that the trunk latch needed to be replaced. Was told none of the issues on the car were covered under warranty. Also received information in 2016 for class action law suit regarding my vehicle due to transmission issues.

While waiting in traffic on a hill or accelerating uphill the check engine light randomly turns on and the vehicle immediately shuts off. This has left me rolling to a stop on the freeway and even rolling backwards downhill unable to turn the car back on. Today I barely pulled over on the side of the road before I started to coast backwards. Recall was posted 10/22/18 and there is no solution yet over 4 months later.
