CarComplaints.com Notes: The Freestar was introduced in 2004, but it was essentially just a rebranded Windstar. While there was a redesign of the interior and exterior, the Freestar still inherited some of the design flaws of its predecessor.

It will drive forward just fine but it will not go into reverse. My neighbor had the van as a sunday church driving and to the store since 2004. when i got it from her it only had 46500 miles on it. it now only has 48900 miles on it. Have no idea why this happen with such low mileage.

the problem is the recall got fixed and when we got the van back it had no reverse. cant drive that way we have 6 kids and not a lot of money. cant just run out and get a new car. when we talked to the company that fixed the recall they would not help. funny how we sent it there with reverse and we got it back without ford should be ashamed for treating people this way

Just got a transmission fluid change. They check. Nothing wrong with transmission. Every once in awhile it won't go in reverse, but will roll backwards.
