When I purchased this secondhand vehicle, the rear, passenger side door handle was broken, and I have 2 grandchildren who sit in the backseat, so it had to be replaced. The "fix" only lasted 8 months. My previous 2 vehicles were Hondas (1990 brand new; 2000 secondhand), and my preference would be to buy a Honda, but I couldn't afford a used Honda. I was T-boned by a guy running a red light, and my 2000 Honda was totaled, so I had to get something, and a Ford would not be my first choice.

Update from Jun 20, 2018: When the alarm is engaged, opening this rear, passenger side door will not cause the alarm to sound off.

When I purchased this secondhand vehicle, the front, driver door lock would not engage via the "clicker", so I have to either manually engage, use the key to lock or leave it unlocked. I do not have $250 to replace the lock assembly. If someone opens the door while I have the alarm engaged, the alarm will sound, but that is not the case with the rear, passenger side door which also needs the lock assembly replaced.

On April 23, 2018, after buckling my youngest grandson in, the door would not close, so I fiddled with the mechanism until I was able to shut the door. I have not had $250 to replace the mechanism again (second time it happened to me; who knows how many to the previous owner?). The door lock will not engage either manually or via the "clicker", so that door is unlocked/open 24/7. Just the other day, I had to stop at the side of one of the streets, and some lady opened the door to get in and realized it wasn't her Uber/Lyft driver. My grandson was sitting in his car seat when this happened, and he was very traumatized.

Driver side interior door latch quit working. Manual lock also didn't work. Locked fine with key fob. Only ways to open door: crawl across to passenger side, roll down window and use exterior handle or simultaneously pull handle and lock. Bought new handle off line (also available at car parts stores), watched a few videos on youtube and replaced on own. Had to remove door panel, remove broken handle, replace with new handle and then re-attach everything. Did remove panel with just screw driver, no fancy tools. Upon removal broken handle noticed it was not the original part hence not the first time it had been replaced. Not ok on an 8 year old car! Repair shop quoted $200+; did on own for $25 and 1 hour of time.

I am STILL paying on this "certified" vehicle I got from a Ford Dealership (3 MORE YEARS OF PAYMENTS)! This is the fourth broken item that I've had to repair/replace (two were major). I had to lower my window (power) to get out of the car, then couldn't get the window up after the door was opened! And I can't lock my car since the driver door won't lock.

A few months ago, I had to pay $200 to get the interior passenger door handle replaced at dealer. Now, I have to go back since the driver side interior door handle just broke and I have been climbing across the front seat to get out of the passenger side. I will pay another $200 for this one.

I have never had a door lock break from the inside, the dealer said it was semi-common to do this repair on the driver side of the car.

My 2008 Ford Fusion has been nothing but problems. The trim on the dashboard broke, the door handle on the driver's side door broke the door would not open. This car is definitively poorly designed and poorly made. This will be the last Ford vehicle I ever own.

So glad i upgraded to power windows and locks, now that i have 2 broken handles I'm manually locking 2 doors any time i exit the car. and on top of it, my alarm goes off every time i forget and i look like a dang car thief. what a pain in the tush. What's bad is my 2 yr old snapped this one so it just shows you don't need much force to break these.

I went to go open the driver's side door today and the latch popped and then it would not work. I had to roll down the window and open the door. I bought the car brand new and I know that the car is 4 years old, but when I spend that much money on something, I expect that it will last a little better! Cheap parts!

Door latch broken, proprietary internal plastic part only available from dealers. Cannot simply replace the broken part, bu must replace entire latch assembly. Must roll window down to open door; annoying in good weather, really inconvenient in rainy or cold weather

It was shocking to reach for the door handle and have it crack in my hand. It seems that it is made of chrome colored plastic. So disappointing that Ford would make it so cheap. Quality is a thing of the past.
