We have had an abnormal fuel smell and leakage from the gas tank area. We have mentioned this to the Ford dealership on a few occasions. We were told there was a notice of recall #13S04 but when we talked to the dealership we were told this was not for our but for a 2013. Why are they not taking care of the same problem for the earlier model. We have now taken our car in for 2 other recalls and find this is a very dangerous and possible life threatening problem.

Myself and two passengers (including 10 month old) were riding northbound on the interstate at approximately 65 mph. Our 2010 Ford Fusion suddenly went into safe mode (aka "limp home mode") where the car continues to have power (steering, brakes, HVAC systems) but it does not respond to pressing on the accelerator. We were traveling along at ~3-5mph with other traffic still traveling full speed. Extremely dangerous situation in an extremely dangerous vehicle. A Ford dealer had just performed recall 13B17 on the vehicle, which recalibrated the powertrain. Unfortunately they did not install a new throttle body, which is covered on this vehicle in satisfaction program 13N03.

Driving on fwy at 65 mph when engine dies in my 10 Fusion! pushing gas pedal resulted in no action RPM gauge to 0 as I moved to shoulder. My god was watching over me as I have no idea how I made it to the shoulder avoiding cars all around me and not causing a wreck or getting hurt. Car started up after 5 minutes of prayers and drove to dealer who was less than 1 mile away. Car died again 200 yards from dealership but started up and made it to dealer. They recognized the problem-throttle body issue and Ford had extended warranty to 150K on car for this reason via "customer satisfaction program 13no3". issue was fixed next day, car is fine now. Had received notification from Ford indicating that the "throttle body may develop contamination..." the fact that the car died as I was driving on the fwy at fwy speeds and did not get hurt or hurt anyone else is a miracle. Ford recognized the problem and chose to not act but chose to wait until a mechanical failure occurs before acting. I have this question for Ford executives, knowing that the "throttle body may be contaminated...." would you allow your sons and/or daughters to drive a Ford? Ford will spend millions of $'s promoting their vehicles instead of proactively correcting the throttle body issue. My son will be 16 next year and he wants an F150, my daughter will be 16 in 3 years and she wants a mustang. They will not be driving Ford products. I will ensure that all my family/friends/peers and acquaintances hear of my near death experience driving my Fusion while Ford knew that there may be an issue and did not act. Here's a recommendation to Ford - remove me from your mail advertising list and save some $. here's a better recommendation proactively correct this issue before someone gets hurt or dies driving a Ford that "may develop contamination..."

I was driving at a low speed of approximately 20-25 mph behind a large truck. Truck pulled over to let people pass, and when I tried to accelerate, nothing happened and the speed dropped to 5mph and did not respond to accelerator pedal. An "orange wrench, repair needed" indicator light was on as I coasted off road and turned off ignition. Waited 10 minutes, restarted car and drove home without incident. There was also another incident that seemed insignificant at the time: About 2 months ago, when accelerating to go up a hill, the car did not respond and crawled extremely slow uphill, but was ok when back on flat ground. Recently received letter from Ford about a recall repair for problem with throttle body, causing car to lose power, and to bring it in for a calibration upgrade. Upgrade is to give slightly more power if you should have problem, but does not correct problem since not all cars will experience loss of power. Went to dealer after I had lost power, asking for replacement of throttle body since I had an "incident" as described in recall. They only did a calibration upgrade since they could "not duplicate the problem" at repair shop.computer diagnostics did not record a problem with throttle body. Said "no codes in PCM. Re-flashed PCM, return to customer". the incident that happened to me was real, and potentially very dangerous. Had I been out on the busy highway, it could have been fatal. I feel that if Ford knows there is a problem and refuses to correct it when a problem is reported, they are being negligent. I wanted to somehow document what happened to me, since I feel the car is unsafe to drive, and this problem will likely happen again.Ford knows about the problem, but if they can't trust what is being reported by a customer, the safety of anyone who owns one of these cars is being compromised. This is a very dangerous issue.

I started smelling gasoline every time I would get out of my car or walk towards it. I was under the impression I had "spilled some", but on 6/9/2014 I noticed a puddle of something in my driveway. I proceeded to smell it and noticed it was gasoline. So I looked under my car and realized that it had a gas leak. I then started looking online to see if there was a recall for this, but unfortunately only the 2013 models have been recalled for this issue. My car is not a 2013, but it is a 2010 and it appears to have the same issue that these cars have had. This problem needs to be looked into for the safely of the consumer. I have scheduled an appointment with a local dealer, but it worries me that I have been driving with my life just one little spark away from my car catching on fire.

As I was driving I suddenly lost power and there was no response when I pushed on the gas peddle. The car was shaking and making noises. I was able to continue driving after I put the car in park and removed the key for a few seconds. A few days later this happened a second time. I was driving about 10 miles an hour and the car again lost power and was shaking and making noises. Again I removed the key and waited a few seconds and was able to start the car and drive normally. The third time this happened the car suddenly accelerated and lurched forward. I had the car towed to my mechanic and he said he cleaned the throttle. He could find nothing else wrong.

Approximately two years ago, I was driving down rt 28 in fairfax, va. I was going about 60 mph when my car turned off. No power steering, no brakes, to speed. The car behind me slammed on his brakes and narrowly missed rear ending me. I made it over to the shoulder. I took my car to koons Ford sterling, they told me it was the throttle body. I called Ford motor customer relationship center and told them what happened and also told them that I goggled it and found many other people complaining about the same thing. I was told that Ford had no knowledge of problems with the throttle body. I paid to have the work done. Fast forward...............three weeks ago we received a letter from Ford telling us that the throttle body was now being recalled and if we have already had the work done, we should take the receipt up to the dealership for our refund. Well that was on April 1. still nothing. Each time I call I'm told that it's still under review. Aside from the fact that I probably will never get a refund, I'm wondering how many people died from this. It took Ford 2-3 years to do this recall.

I was driving the road around 50 mph.,when suddenly my car was idling! I tried to push the gas but the car was no power I gear off to the side of the road. I put the car to park. After I restart my car and seems nothing was wrong with it.I took my car to Ford dealer schwabengarage ag stuttgart-vaihingen germany / garage to look what is wrong with it, they didn't see anything wrong with it. So I drove my car again, my boyfriend search the problem and found out that the throttle body is not working right, but the dealer couldn't see the problem. My boyfriend order the parts anyway because I can feel that my car is going to break down again. I was driving this morning with my two kids when my car lose power again. I turned it off and start again and after 100 meters it did the same again. I was terrified and pray hard that the other car will not hit us. I took my car to aafes / military installation car care with the parts we purchased and replaced the throttle body. I drove my car home today and got home safely. I found out that Ford Fusion has been having this problem.

Driving at 70 M.P.H vehicle just shut down. Engine was at idle at 1000 RPM but vehicle would not pull off the roadway. Wrench light came on. Had to stop in the roadway put vehicle in park turn vehicle off then restart vehicle. Vehicle ran like nothing had happened. Then it started doing it over and over every 4-5 miles. N.C.C.C. has filed complaint. Ford response in the most severe F.M.E.M. mode failure driver had engine power to allow vehicle mobility to maneuver to a safe location. (this is not true ) vehicle will stop in the roadway it does not have the power to pull the vehicle it idles @ 1000 R.P.M but it will not move. If Ford would drive my Fusion they would buy something other then a Ford to drive. Recall needs to come a.S.a.P. before someone gets killed.

This problem has happened twice within the past 3 days. At the first occurrence, we were driving rather slowly, appx. 35 mph. The car lost power without warning, and started misfiring violently. Depressing the fuel pedal had no effect. The yellow wrench warning icon on the dash was lit. We were going down a slight hill on side street, so it was easy to drift to the side of the road. We put the car in park and allowed it to run for a few minutes, but it continued to misfire and seemed starved for fuel. It did keep running for about 5-10 minutes more before we shut it off. While waiting for the tow truck, my husband tried restarting the car. It started immediately and ran fine with no warning lights. The next day the mechanic checked it but could find no issue or record of an error code. He added "dry gas" in case the problem was due to water freezing in the fuel line. The weather is quite cold. The third day (today) I filled the fuel tank and added another bottle of "dry gas". I drove appx 35 miles (in several segments) then the problem happened again. This time I was in traffic, going appx 55 miles per hour. The behavior was identical: Pronounced misfiring, no power, fuel pedal had no effect, wrench warning light on. I was fortunate to have barely enough momentum to get most of the way off the highway. This time I restarted the car after about 10 seconds. Again, it started right up and I was able to drive the final 6 miles of my commute. In researching the problem, it seems that the cause may be the throttle assembly. We will be taking the car back to the repair shop and I will be happy to report back on the resolution.

Car driving fine when it suddenly loses all throttle response. The little orange wrench light comes on. Pulled car over to the shoulder and turned off the ignition. When I turned the car back on, it began working again. This is the second time this has happened. The first incident was a few weeks ago. Very dangerous to lose throttle response. Upon checking internet it appears that this problem is not uncommon. You need to look into this and get Ford issue a recall.

Was traveling on 696 in detroit area at 70 mph when my 2010 Ford Fusion suddenly lost 'power' to the power train, it lost all velocity and the ability to accelerate. It went from 70 mph to 0 mph in seconds! I have never been so scared for my life as I was at that moment watching cars 'jump' lanes to avoid rear ending me due my sudden loss of power. I thank god I was able to cross multiple lanes making near the shoulder as the vehicle came to a stop! the engine was still running but list ability to move. Dealership charged $600 to repair my vehicle which was 2 weeks out of warranty with 30,000 miles! when asked what happened the service manager said sometimes parts go bad. After reading about the issue, it sounds bigger problem than that. Let me know what info you need.

The problem I am about to describe has happened twice within 5 days. Traveling down the interstate sudden loss of power with no response from the throttle. Yellow wrench light came on RPM's went to 1000 each time. After pulling over and shutting the car off and then restarting the engine bounced and coughed and then ran normal with no yellow wrench. I have called Ford and will have the problem taken care of tomorrow. How come they all know it's a throttle body problem but Ford is not addressing the safety issue with customers. It is all over the internet an obvious known problem. Toyota got killed for sudden acceleration but Ford does nothing for sudden loss of power.

I was on an on ramp on the way in to work in the morning when my vehicle lost propulsion. I was accelerating and then the accelerator became unresponsive and the engine idled roughly between 750-1000 RPM. The 'wrench' light came in and I was able to roll to the side of the freeway. I turned off and restarted my vehicle and the malfunction had apparently cleared as the issue has yet to return, but will. I say 'will return' because the exact same thing happen 23sep while on the freeway traveling 35mph during morning rush hour. I brought the vehicle to the local Ford dealership for a diagnostic test ($) and they found nothing and had no ideas as to the potential cause. I was willing to accept it as a fluke, but now that it has happened again I know there must be a problem. I am hesitant to return to the dealership for another $80 diagnostic test when it seems that this is a prevalent issue... (nearly 95% of the complaints of this vehicle on this website). Is there a recall in the works for this vehicle malfunction?

I was driving at about 40 mph down a very busy main street in okemos, mi when my car jumped and a wrench light came on in the dashboard then my car decelerated rapidly and wouldn't move. My car stalled in the middle of this busy street...I was luckily able to coast into the nearest parking lot before it hit 0. when I arrived to the dealership I was informed that this was a throttle body failure. I have been reading that this is a common problem in Ford cars from 2010 and I think this is extremely dangerous. Ordinarily at this time I would have been driving 70+ on the highway home from work it just so happened (luckily) that I needed to stop at the mall on my way home. I shudder to imagine what would have happened on the busy highway going 70 when my car stalled...it was scary enough at 40 mph. I think this is a safety issue in the 2010 Ford Fusion that should be addressed. This could be deadly.
