Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't

Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.

2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2010/Ford/Fusion/power+train traveling on interstate at 55 miles per hour when the car lost power and the wrench light came on it was all that could be done to avoid a highspeed accident. When the vehicle wa restarted it ran fine. However it continues doing this. The dealer says the throttle unit ($600) needs replaced this after the transmission was just replaced. We called the Ford customer service it took three weeks for their representative to return the call and he had the nerve to ask "what did we expect him to do"? with the web the companies can no longer lie the dealer and Ford first stated it was the first they heard of this, yet there are lawsuits everywhere.

Driving at relatively low speed - 25-30 mph - and car lurched to slow speed - could not accelerate at all. Had to pull over to side of road, turn vehicle off and restart. Drove 50 yards and problem recurred. It continued to happen, fortunately not on the highway until I called the Ford dealer. Had to have the vehicle towed because I did not want to take it on the highway. Dealer wanted to charge me over $500 for repair as vehicle was 3 months out of 36 month warranty. I researched online and found that this is a problem with the "throttle box" which the dealer should have been well aware of. Dealer did "assisted" me with cost of repair - charged me $50. The repair should have been free. Ford needs to issue a recall before someone is killed.

I was traveling on the hwy going home. The little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and I could not accelerate at all. When I tried to press the gas pedal it would not do anything at all. I managed to pull over to the median. I tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. This solved the problem temporarily. This happened to me three times the rest of my way home. Without warning the light comes on and you have no acceleration. I'm being told it could be the throttle body.

I was driving in windber, pa going around a sharp turn with a tri axle coal truck on my bumper, as I went to press the gas pedal the car made a pop noise. Looked down at my dash and the wrench light came on right away, I could not get any gas to the engine, I tried to get off the road but there was not a shoulder on the highway.I immediately put my turn signal on and the car just coasted along the side until it came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway on the curve, might I add. I turn my car off and called my husband told him he told me to call laurel Ford and see if they could tow it for us. I left the car sit because I was going to a appointment in somerset I did not want to be late, when I returned from the appointment the car started right up no wrench light I drove to laurel Ford, I went in talked to the service rep they looked over my car and advised me that the computer did not locate a problem, but they have found that the throttle body has been the problem with this model of car. He explained that the part was on national back order and was unsure when he could get the part. I drove the car home that day with no problem, I attempted to drive the car again to go to work on tueday 7 miles from home the car did the same thing went to give it gas and the car shut off I pulled to the side of the road and turned the engine off and it started back up no wrench light. Went to work going home from work it did it again and not only the wrench light but the engine light came on as well. I got the car home called laurel Ford and took the car to them for repair there is not part to be found its on national back order and its been two weeks I have called Ford and have not given me a time or date of where the part is or if the part is available. I called Ford service twice and got the same answer I feel that Ford has dropped the ball on this not happy.

The first time I experienced the problem; I was accelerating going up a slight incline, the engine quit. I had to put it park and restart it, in traffic. This same issues happened several more times, the car just quit while driving. On July 27th, it happened again along with a new issue: I was at a stop light and it started running ruff and shut itself off. This incident happened twice.

I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in Chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. The little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and I could not accelerate at all. When I touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. I managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. Finally I tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. This solved the problem temporarily. This happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as I was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. No warning. The light comes on and you have no acceleration. I'm being told it could be the throttle body.

My car had 2 problems. First, was the powertrain transmission. It's the same situation as what others described, but my car started malfunctioning on the month we bought new and less than 100 miles. I don't have the specific miles and dates because I'm recalling from 2009 and it's now 2013. When I tried to change the gear from drive to park is when I first noticed the problem. I felt a sticking on the gear and a slight awkward movement of the car. I told the Ford service department where I bought it in elizabethtown, ky. Not sure when, but not right away and they didn't do anything. Then, a few months later, the car seem like it's changing gear on it's own, but I was on a flat road and have not touch the gear shift or not push the gas pedal any less or more, or braked. It did this a few times, so I took it, but again, the dealership did not do anything. Then, later, I made a right turn to a highway with heavy traffic, but clear when I entered. My car accelerated for a second, then just wouldn't accelerate anymore, and a car got pretty close. Finally, it went. I took it as soon as I can to a dealership in columbus, ga. Because an accident could have happened and was scary. But, they only checked the computer system. Nothing was done. Then, same scary thing happen on the highway again and again. Finally, I took it in 2012 and told them they have to fix this before we get into an accident. Finally, they fixed it after many times of trying and before an accident occurred. It was diagnosed with transmission problem and have not had any problem since 8-1-2013 at around 37,000 miles on it. This time it's the throttle assembly, but, they fixed it right away here in Hawaii. This time it just loss acceleration while driving on the road. Thankful that my kids and I made it safely on the side of a busy intersection.

While resuming travel after stopping at a stoplight the engine would not allow me to continue to accelerate. As there was a line of traffic behind me, I quickly turned on my 4-way flashers and coasted to the side of the road. After shutting off the ignition and waiting for a few minutes, I tried restarting the car. The engine restarted normally and I was able to proceed with full throttle functionally. This same problem happened to me three more times since the first incident. I have read on the internet that several people are experiencing this problem and that Ford is not issuing a recall to fix this problem.

While driving on the highway at 60, in a section of highway with no breakdown lane and multiple highways merging together, the car suddenly lost all throttle power and wrench light went on. Coasted to side of road barely being missed by several other vehicles and trucks. I shut car off and started again and was ok and able to get off highway. Once off highway car kept loosing throttle power every mile until I got it to the dealership. Dealership says this is an issue with 2010 Fusion and that part is not available until end of October! (already had throttle body and plate cleaned a few weeks ago when it happened on a cold start and code came up P2111 throttle actuator control stuck open. Car was fine until now.)

Was traveling at approximately 55mph when the car lost all propulsion. I was able to get to the shoulder, shut it down, and start back up after about a minute. This occurred 3 times on a 25 mile drive. Appears to be a faulty throttle body based on the codes being thrown off. The car only has 40,000 miles and based on multiple user boards this is a problem Ford is aware of. Unacceptable for such a key part to fail so early in its like. If I was stuck in the left lane this could have resulted in a very dangerous situation.

I was driving in the right lane of a major, heavily traveled (with many tractor trailers), divided highway, traveling at a speed of between 55 and 60 mph. All of a sudden, without warning, the engine seemed to shut down. I could not accelerate; the engine would not respond. This was a very scary situation as trucks and cars had to break, while I steered the car to the narrow shoulder. The car didn't seem to lose power steering and the engine was still running (tach showed 900 to 1000 RPM). However, engine was totally unresponsive to my depressing the accelerator. I shut off the engine, put the flashers on and waited a few minutes and attempted to start the engine. The engine started normally, and I was able to pull out onto the highway. However, after driving about one-quarter mile, the same engine shutdown occurred. Called aaa and had the car towed. The auto repair center checked for trouble codes. The throttle body assembly had failed and had to be replaced. I have not had a problem since the repair was made. Subsequent to the repair, I checked on the internet to see if anyone else had this problem. I was very surprised to see that this problem is not uncommon to Ford owners. I was gratified to see that your Agency has opened an investigation into the matter. I called customer service at Ford Motor Company to see if there has been a recall. Ford customer service said there was no recall and did not acknowledge that there is a problem with the throttle body unit. I then called the service department of a local Ford dealership. The service rep said that "they have seen problems with the throttle body unit", but confirmed that there has been no recall.

As your driving your vehicle down the road the car just looses power, 2nd time in two years throttle body went out. Part is on national back order this time, Ford will not help or assist with repair if vehicle is out of warranty.. this is very dangerous, car looses power at any speed and I was almost ran over by a semi tractor trailer. When it happens the wrench light comes on ; on computer from diagnostic pedal ids self test code shows up is P2112.

While driving the gas pedal begins to shake and then the car shuts off completely. Have read several reviews/complaints about it being the throttle body, and that's what it is. $800, and warranty is expired, but brought the car in previously to Ford with the same issues, they couldn't find any problems then. Don't feel I should pay for a mistake made by Ford.

When traveling down the road in typical conditions the power could cut out on the engine. Electrical power would still be on but no power would go to the engine forcing me to pull off the road and restart. This has happened several times and caused a minor bump with a traffic barrel. Ford lists this as service notice when it should be a recall, I could have been killed had I not had enough room to avoid the semi truck speeding behind me.

My daughter owns a Ford Fusion 2010 and has had multiple incidences of throttle body failure. We have taken it to the dealer, who diagnosed it and ordered the part. The part is back ordered due to so many failures on several types of Ford cars and trucks. A little research on the part of the NHTSA would show it is past time this part should have been recalled!!! losing acceleration in the middle of pulling into traffic whether in town or highway is exceptionally dangerous, the NHTSA and Ford need to step up before deaths occur.

As I was driving to work November 28, 2012 the car died. Luckily I had already exited the highway and was only doing app. 30 mph. I pulled to the side of the road and attempted to restart the car. I finally got it to run, but it was running terribly. I nursed the car to where I worked and called a tow truck. It was towed to kings Ford in cincinnati (about 20 miles from where I work). The mechanic verified a "dtc P2112" code for a throttle body stuck. It was replaced by kings Ford and although I was under the 36 month warranty period I was over the mileage (3 year/36,000). I was charged $442.81 for the repair. This is ridiculous for a car that was less than 3 years old. I complained to Ford and was basically told "too bad". not happy with any Ford product now. I manage a 330 vehicle fleet where I work. Do you think I'll buy a Ford again?

Throttle body is defective on vehicle. Causes vehicle to not get any gas and shuts down to an idle with the wrench light illuminating. Many people have this known issue. Driving in dallas I found this to be very unsafe with so much traffic. Could have been seriously injured as the vehicle would not move.
