CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

Mother has a 2011 Fusion. My daughter took her to the eye doctor a few weeks ago and told me that the brake pedal went to the floor. I drove the car and got it to duplicate the problem several times. Took it to a locate repair shop and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. Leaving the shop, I got it to do it again. Long story short, they didn't want to mess with it. After research, I found what everybody else has found. An issue that Ford has not addressed for those year models. I guess it takes someone getting injured or killed for them to extend the recall.

I was in a car wreck today.

I rear-ended someone today, crushing the front end of my car completely to the windshield because the brakes failed to stop even after I repeatedly pressed them all the way to the floor. I was able to protect my sister and she walked away without injury. My injuries are not life threatening; however, they are kinda severe. Several lacerations to my head and face, bruised shoulder and arm and sprained and bruised wrist. I am extremely grateful we walked away, but the brake failure is completely to blame and needs to be investigated by Ford.

Fusion Sport 3.2L V6

My 2011 Ford Fusion has on more than 10 occasions failed to brake. For no reason the brakes will go all the way to the floor. This has happened at very low speeds and also speeds of 55 mph. I've had it inspected by multiple shops and had the brakes replaced a couple times, but the problem is happening more often now. Ford will do NOTHING!!!!

Sounds exactly like the #70 reports in front of me on this site. https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2011/brakes/service_brakes.shtml

Cold frozen morning, left for work and everything was fine. Four miles into the drive I approached a stop sign and the brake pedal went almost to the floor and brakes barely engaged. I pumped the pedal and pressure returned and I stopped. Scared me to death because it was a frozen winter morning at a T-intersection with cross traffic at 55 MPH. Using caution I pulled out and tried the brakes again, with the same soft, squishy results. If I pump them, I get pressure and braking; if I let off and apply again they are soft. Completely unsafe to drive more than 25 MPH as any emergency or sudden stop would not be possible.

Had to lock up my brakes. ABS light came on, brakes worked as they should. However haven't worked properly since. Checked brake fluid it was low, thought simple fix. Filled but still has the same problem. If I pump them, I'm good. If I don't, well they might or might not stop in time. There are days that when applied, they grab to one side or you feel the back grab to the point of making your rear end swerve. Took to mechanic, thought I was crazy because there are no issues with pads, calipers etc. This is too dangerous for Ford not to address. They knew and recalled up to 2010, obviously the problem went further than that!

Coming to a red light (at which a car was stopped in my lane ) and driving very slowly ( estimated 12- 14 m.p.h.), when I tried to stop the pedal went to the floor ; this was an all-of-a-sudden-problem and of course took me totally by surprise ; trying to avoid an accident and also not wanting to knock the stopped car ahead of me into traffic, I very quickly tried to pull a "U-turn" in that street but ended up jumping a curb and smashing my car into a pole so badly that the insurance company "totalled" the car and I have been fighting with them now for 4 stinking months with no settlement. ( I also BTW had just lost my job and was still undergoing cancer treatments and [still] seeing 5 different doctors.Needless to say , especially with no job no money etc. and an insurance company dragging their feet,it has been a veritable nightmare ! ) The one and ONLY good thing is that at least I didn't hit that car !
