CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

As driving the power steering assist failed causing the vehicle to go to manual steering and losing control in a turn. This is my daughter's car who's going to college and has to drive down the mountain in order to get to and from college is a major safety issue because if she was going around a turn down the mountain the vehicle would have went off the side of the mountain. Why does Ford make these vehicles with this type of issue. This is a life-or-death issue.

Power steering assist fault on 2011 Ford Fusion SE. Tri star Ford has ran tests and states no present problems on 12/13/2017. I have time stamped photos and recordings of at least seven different times that it has happened. I was advised to record this, but would have many more if I had done so from the beginning. This has happened stationary, in motion in parking lots, pulling out on city streets and on the highway. I feel that it has put my life and the lives of others in danger. I would like Ford to step forward and take responsibility for this issue before it is to late.

My 2011 Ford Fusion I lost control of my car and this happen out the blue no warning as I was driving my car at about 40 mph I lost the ability to control my car I was unable to turn off the highway so U coast to the side of the road to avoid any collision this issue has left me with no way of getting to and from work and I lost a day of work I have been trying to figure out how to get the problem fixed I am aware of the recall that my car has on it and I am not able to get the problem solved I am being told that the recall has expired but I don't know how it can expire when the issue was not fixed there are 29 recalls on my car to be told that they can't honor the recall I bought my car from a used car lot and I was not informed on the recalls but 29 recalls on one vehicle and for me to be told by one of Ford representative that the recall has expired and the issue was never resolved this is a problem I have to get to work and get my mom to dyalisis to the doctor this is a issue that I have to deal with because of faulty manufacturer issues for a problem that has been made aware to the company, refusing to take care of the issues with my car I don't understand how the recall has expired but the problem was never fix this issue has to be reported to the manufacturer or the car need to be recall and the only way it could not be honored is if the manufacturer is no longer manufacturing the parts and they still are making the parts to get the issue resolved this is by far the most inconsiderate thing told.Ford needs to fix the issue with this car it's never been resolved I understand if the issue was taken care of and I am trying to get the problem fixed again that isn't the case the initial problem was never dealt with and I have to suffer because of bad manufacturing if the issue is the fault of the company then they need to get the problem taken cared of.

Fusion

  • 68,800 miles
While turning left in an intersection, I lost the ability to steer. I hit the brakes and stopped in the middle of the intersection. Fortunately, nobody hit me. The words "power steering assist fault" appeared on the console. Turning the car off and back on restored power steering. Two days later, when starting the car, the same error appeared. Again, turning the car off and on restored power steering. Apparently I'm not covered under recall 15S18. I may be covered under extended coverage (15N01) but the dealer said that I will only be covered if some code appears, and didn't have an appointment to check for three weeks. I contacted Ford customer service through facebook, but the employee was unhelpful, and just directed me to deal with the dealer, even though the dealer can't see me.
