I really hate we bought this car, the transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd is rough and the overall handling is awful. I took it to a Ford dealership, the guy test drove it and said it was a normal thing for the shifting to be like that in smaller cars. He really insulted my intelligence, I have owned small to midsize cars and never experienced this problem. I Hate this car. I will never buy another Ford, I'll go back to foreign cars, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.

Fusion 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150 miles

I bought this car NEW from 5 Star Ford - 11 miles on the odometer. I liked the style of the car and since 5 Star has a pretty good reputation I decided to buy from them. This is my first Ford - I have been a Dodge guy most of my adult life.

After about 150 miles or so I started noticing that the shift from 2nd to 3rd gear was "funny" - it just wasn't as tight as the other shifts. I wrote it off as a new car that needed to adapt to my driving and didn't think much more about it. After another 100 miles or so the shifts still weren't right so I decided to take it in for service. The dealer told me that the fluid level was incorrect from the factory and it had been corrected and now shifted normally. On the drive home the trans started slipping again. Called them the next morning to let them know that it wasn't fixed and made an appointment to bring it back in.

Took it in and was told "we don't feel anything" and "they all do that" so I took it home again.

Now it has started slipping and actually revving up (shift flare) between 2nd and 3rd gear - enough so that my wife noticed from the passenger seat.

I took it back again (3rd time in less than a month) and this time there was a software update that they applied. If anything this made the issue WORSE - now instead of shifting poorly when its cold, it does it all the time.

This car is - in my opinion - unsafe at this point. The inability to accelerate through a turn will end up getting someone (me) rear-ended

Since 5 Star is telling me that there is "nothing wrong", my next step will be to file a complaint with Ford directly.
