Not much to say. Kept up with the maintenance. Good looking truck. Engine blew just over 100,000 miles. In mid -sized town. Had towed to large diesel mechanic. Another truck same year with just over 80,000 miles was also there. Guess I should consider myself lucky to get those extra 20,000 miles - not! Have heard this is a pretty common problem. Should have gone with the proven Isuzu!

blown engine blown engine

Took the truck in for service in July at 46,000 miles. Vehicle was very hard to start when the engine was at normal operating temperature and there was a strange noise when the engine was at normal operating temperature.

The dealer said that they couldn't find any abnormal noises.

A little over 4 months later and 3 months after the warranty expired, with 51,000 miles on the truck a rod went through the bottom of the engine.

Ford customer service and the dealer said they would apply some "goodwill funds" toward the repair but they quote $19,540.00 for the engine. Ford suggested retail for the complete engine is $12,234.00.

When asked why the difference in engine cost they told me that Ford forces them to use a different formula for this type of repair. Sound like bullsh*t to me.

This is the 2nd ford truck I have owned for my business, bought them both in 2007, they both blew engines with under 100,000 miles. Will never buy another Ford.

Serviced them both religiously, doesn't seem to matter.
