My car had very low milage for it to need a new clutch. I had the car for almost 3 years and even though I learned to drive standard in it, there was no need for a total replacement. Not to mention the price. $800.00 for a clutch that wasn't even a high preformance clutch. Not only was I broke after the repair but I had no choice. When I brought it into the shop the guy told me that it was so bad that I ma have had a week left in it. And afterwards they didn't tighten the bolts to my drive shaft, 20K miles later I almost killed myself because of their ignorance. Just because I am a girl dosen't mean I don't know squat, but it was a repair that I wasn't able to do myself, but I could have died had I hit a bump and the underneath of my car decided to fall out. So be careful, and know who is working on your car, and if you can be there to watch it all.

I've driven a standard for over 10 years. In my first Mustang we didn't replace the clutch until it had about 120,000 miles on it. However, with my 1998 Cobra I just spent over $1000 on a new clutch and related parts. Ford is 'cutting costs' by using shoddy OEM parts - and the customer is paying for it.
Ford's Customer Care is a joke - and don't waste your money on the extended warranty. If you get a good dealership they may work with you but most don't (specifically CAPITAL FORD in RALEIGH NC).

Those people at Ford !!!How could they make a performance vehicle and put a crappy clutch in it. I bought the 98 Cobra in 2006 and at that time it had 98000 miles on it. I replaced the clutch and put a new motor in it ...... Well 6000 miles later its banging and shaking really hard when you start it up. It also starts slipping(clutch). If I had it up to meto do again I would be with Chevy all the way. I don't want another headache again.
