I was going up a steep driveway. I made it to the top, then needed to get back down. I put my car in reverse and proceeded to back down the driveway. Suddenly and without warning, my brakes and steering went out. The whole car shut off and the battery light turned on. Not being able to brake or steer, my car rolled down the driveway into a fence before coming to a stop. This caused extensive damage to my vehicle.

The water pump failed on the 3.7 V6 and there was a tsb16-0074 that has a check valve in it to prevent the failure of the water pumps. Problem was noticed when car had already pulled out of the garage.. there was a puddle of water under the front center of the car. My wife drove to the salon. I went there to check and add one gallon of antifreeze to the radiator overflow.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway (I-4) on my way to work on 10/24/2019, I was going about 65 mph and suddenly the vehicle decreased speed to about 35 -40 mph, on the instrument panel the wrench light or symbol came on, I was almost rear ended and hit by 2 vehicles traveling at normal speed. As I pressed on the gas pedal the car would not pick up speed, I believe this is called "limp mode'. I was luckily able to avoid the accident by pulling off to the side of the highway. I shut the vehicle off, since I was not sure if it could also be a fire hazard. Waited a few minutes and looked up the issue on the internet. I turned the vehicle back on and it was as if nothing had ever happened. I was able to get back on the road and I thought maybe it was just a malfunction. I was very scared but drove into work with no idling issues. Saturday 10/26/2019 I was on my way to the grocery store and it happened again, near my house on a residential road. I was going about 35-40 and all of the sudden the vehicle once again slowed down, this time to about 10-15 mph. Once again, I was almost rear ended, I was able to pull onto the side of the road, this time I called a tow truck. I waited a few hours and nothing. I shut the vehicle off and drove home, about half a mile. Once again the dashboard clear and car drove off with no issue. Car was taken to dealership on 10/26/2019. It is currently being looked at but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

Limp mode- my Mustang about a few months ago when in to limp mode. I was driving down the highway at around 70 when I lost all power to my car and the wrench light came on. I was able to get off the freeway and shut my car down for about 5 minutes. After my car started and I went on my way. I did some research and found it could be the etb (electrical throttle body) it has been find until this weekend. Today I had to reset my vehicle 6 times during a few hour running around. The last time my vehicle just threw a code. I do not want to drive it because I am afraid that I might cause more damage then what it could. Ford said unless it is a full recall I would have to pay for it. I have found other tps and a law sue about this for all years but mine. The part is about 350-450 plus labor.

Takata recall - this 2014 Mustang has approximately 22700 miles and has been subject to the takata airbag recall for approximately two years. Though Ford has notified me that airbags are available, I cannot get a dealer (I've been to two) to install the airbag. Additionally, the car has an electrical fault in the engine management system that has been noted since the car had 5000 miles on it. Despite more than five trips to the dealer and more than 28 days in the shop, the car is still unrepaired. The Ford engineer's latest speculation as to the cause is a software problem, which he acknowledged could affect all systems, including brakes, throttle control, lighting, and the airbags to name a few. BBB's autoline arbitrator agreed that the car is unsafe to drive and ordered Ford to repurchase the vehicle. However, Ford did not do so within the allotted time due to frivolous document requests that delayed the process, and their refusal to inspect the car on site or pick the car up with a wrecker at a reasonable time. They insisted that I drive the car, which I now refuse to do so. There are other documents available, these are the primary documents related to the claim.

I was going to work around 15:45 when I had to accelarate on a mountain while I was on the fifth gear. I gave enough gaz but the engine did not want to respond. After arriving at the top of the mountain, not being able to accelerate on the 5th gear, I downshifted to the 4th gear. Same result the engine did not respond. The engine then stalled, battery light came up, oil and engine light came up after. The road was turning radically so I told myself I will try to stop after the curve so I wont be dangerous to other cars in the curve. Problem is, steering box failed to fonction and I almost crashed in a light post. Even with my two hands forcing on the steering wheel it was very difficult to turn. I called Ford road assistance for a towing. It took around 40 minutes for it to arrive. For a 12th February in qubec, it is long and cold to wait in a car 40 minutes with no heating. Two days later Ford called me to tell me oil smelled gaz and sparked plugs were finished, for then telling me the engine is done due to a piston. Because of a modification on the engine (a supercharge) I am aware the warranty will probably not cover the engine, but this seems to not explain why the steering box failed in which I almost did an accident.

This is the second time this has happened. Upon starting the car, the motor revs uncontrolled to about 7000 rpms. I have to turn ignition off to stop the motor from damaging its self. If my foot was to ever slip off the clutch, we would race uncontrolled in reverse! the car is always parked and started while in reverse. Almost afraid to start this car.

When downshifting in the manual transmission version of this vehicle, the car doesn't slow down on any decline and instead accelerates (without touching the gas pedal). Also, while slowing down on a flat road (at 1,500 to 1,700rpm) the car accelerates by itself and fights the brakes while in gear.

Upon acceleration to pass a slow vehicle a strong odor started to fill the vehicle, almost like a propane smell. This I later learned to be exhaust fumes, or I should note, unburned fuel passing through the system. This is the 3rd time this has occurred, and only does this under acceleration when passing slower vehicles or using more power to ascend hills or mountain type roads. Vehicle thrown no ses codes. Vehicle does not stutter or hesitated, but as noted does produce a foul smell under harder acceleration.

2014 Ford Mustang. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems. The consumer stated she heard a ticking sound, after driving for 15 minutes. The dealer stated the entire long block needed to be replaced. After the long block was replaced, the engine light started flashing, and the engine was revving higher than normal. The vehicle accelerating by itself in gear and there were pressure issues with the brake pedal. The dealer was unable to replicate the consumers concern. The next time the consumer returned to the dealer, the ignition was replaced. The RPM's continued to rev, idle was very rough, even with the ac off. The ticking noise was still present, and the brake pedal was hard to the touch.

The car was making a dry pass by at a drag strip (non racing) while driving the car ignition cut off, causing a loss of control. Car hit rear quarter panel and then hit the front tire and suspension ripping the front bumper off. Driver was injured but not bad. Had car towed to a Ford dealer, where we were told we would have to pay $4,000 to have a Ford represenative look at, to determine cause for the car to shut off and air bags not deploy.

While driving the Mustang (which is a manual transmission) I noticed that the speed of the car doesn't decelerate when I take my foot off the gas pedal. The car is given gas (more than an idle amount) when I do not depress the gas pedal. It happens in all 6 gears but it's most noticeable when in first or second. Also, while the car is in gear, the engine fights to slow down while depressing the brake pedal. This doesn't happen every time but when it occurs while in a parking lot with people around it becomes a serious safety issue.
