The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 2 mph to pull into a parking space he heard a loud pooping noise and then noticed that the driver side front tire and the coil spring broke. He had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they repaired the vehicle according to recall#04V332000 affecting the suspension:front:springs:coil springs. However they would not replace the tire as a free remedy that would only cover the expense for the parts they were affected by the recall. The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. While driving 1 mph, the passenger side front tire blew out. The contact noticed that the coil spring punctured the tire and caused it to flatten. The vehicle was towed to a gas station. He spoke with the local Ford dealer and they advised him to bring the vehicle in for repair. The dealer replaced the parts for free, however, they would not reimburse him for the tow and the new tire. The contact believes that his vehicle should be included in recall number 04V332000 (suspension:front:springs:coil springs). The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 152,000.

Driving our 99 Ford Taurus when we had a sudden blowout and sagging on the left front. The strut spring had ruptured, also puncturing the tire. New front struts and tires totalled over $1100. Luckily, we were traveling at low speed when this occured. One month later I discover that Ford had recalled vehicles including our type for that very problem. We were never notified. The Ford customer relations person (jasmine) said that because they did not have a 'profile' on us, we were not notified. We have lived at the same address since 1991 and have owned this car for years. Any secretary of state office would have had our info, yet no genuine notification attempt was made. I learned that Ford extended warranty coverage for that problem but the time and/or mileage on our car now slightly exceeded the limit. I phoned the NHTSA roughly 3 weeks ago. A lady took down my complaint and stated that someone would contact me by phone or email. I have received neither. I emailed Ford customer service and my reply was that there was no pending actions or adjustments regarding my vehicle. When this problem first surfaced Ford apparently took the East way out and only notified people they had on record as owners. If notified, I would have immediately had them repair the car. No notification, no repair and our well- being was put in danger as a result. We were not hurt but I would like Ford to live-up to their responsibility and cover the damage cost as should have been the case anyway. I would like your input on this before I proceed furthur. Please advise. Thank you. Al manente.

Front coil spring broke on my 1999 Ford Taurus. I was told by the tow driver it was a recall issue with the model. I checked on Ford's web site and sure enough it was. Ford agreed to fix the coil, but not the tire it punctured. They say I was informed by mail, although I never received any notice. I take my car in for regular service 4-5 X per year and was never, not even once, told they could do the recall at no charge while my car was there. I have not received their recall notice, possibly because I have moved 2X since buying the car. They were notified of my address change each time I moved.

I was driving down the road at 55 mph when I heard a big bang and my car was headed to the other lane of the road. I tried getting the car under control, when I hit a mail box and my air bag deflated. I was then thrown up into the air and ran straight into a pile of hard wood logs. There were about 40 logs sitting in the pile. I hit half way up the pile which sent a log through the windshield and directly into my face. I was knocked out cold. When I awoke I found the ambulance crew trying to remove me from the vehicle. The car hit so hard that it folded it almost in half. Thank god I am still alive but I lost all my front teeth, my collar bone was pulled out the socket, I had whiplash, my back was hurt and is still bothering me to this day. I still have flashbacks from this day. I must to had a guardian angle with me that day because people still cannot believe how I walked away from that accident that day.

: the contact stated that recall # 04V332000 was received. After receiving the recall the contact went to the dealer for them to put guards on the springs of the front of the vehicle. However after a few weeks the springs fractured while driving 30 mph. After the incident the contact took the car to a service dealer. The dealer replaced the springs and the mounts of the springs. The dealer paid for the cost of the labor and the new springs but did not pay for the mounts of the springs. At the present time the vehicle vibrates so much in the front part the contact feels the vehicle is useless.

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus. My car was recalled in December of 2004 for the coil springs to have a cover placed on them to prevent corrosion and breakage. I had the recall done and shortly afterwards started noticing a loud clunk and bang from the right front while performing a turn. I brought the car back to the Ford dealer who performed the recall and had them check the front coil springs. They claimed they are okay. A year has passed and the noise has progressively gotten worse. Based on the Ford dealer telling me that the coil spring is okay, I decided to purchase four new struts in hopes of rectifying the loud clunk. The noise is still there even after replacing the struts. They cost me $650. Now I feel I may have wasted that money. I visited a Ford Taurus forum on the internet and found out that quite a few people are experiencing the same problem. This is a serious issue especially if the spring fails on a highway.

Trying to back out of my driveway, the spring broke and punctured my driver side front tire. I called the local Ford garage, and they said they couldn't fix it under the recall because it is over 160,000 miles on the vehicle. We bought the car used and never received any notification of this recall.

The contact stated that on December 1, 2004 front left coil spring broke that punctured the tire. Also, the key will not come out of the ignition. Once in awhile one could turn the steering wheel just right and the key will come out. The contact had to pry open the hood or it will not open. Contact has not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The blower motor will not work, and that was what fogged up the windows. Had to dash off in order to get to the blower. July 1, 2005 the door sensor will ding even when shut the door, and it will stay on until it runs down the battery.

The consumer states that he received a recall notice on his 1999 Ford Taurus about a year and a half ago. The recall was on #04V332000 NHTSA, Ford# 04S17 on the suspension: Front coil spring: Protective shield. The consumer took his vehicle to the Ford dealership that Ford recommended in the consumers area on May 19, 2005. The vehicle did not make any noise until the recall work was done. The noise is coming from the left side on the front wheel. The dealer performed recall on 04S17. The owner started noticing the noise right after the recall work was done. The owner called the dealer and informed them about the noise. The owner took the vehicle back on June 9, 2005. The dealer checked and said he found problems in the front sway bar and the linkages. The dealer said he would replace the sway bar and links for $160. The owner took the vehicle to another certified qualified mechanic and the mechanic said there were no problems with the sway bar links. Then the owner called Ford and told them about them having the sway bar checked. Ford told the consumer that he could go to another dealer. Ford was supposed to be in touch with the consumer 10 days prior to today and they were not. Ford told the car owner he would have to pay for the diagnostic testing and any other repairs the vehicle would have to have. The vehicle did not have any problems until the car repair work was done. Ford will not accept any one else's opinion except for the Ford dealerships word. The consumer does not have any information on the address of the dealer where the car was purchased.

Consumer called in regard to a recall 04M04 he received in 08-2004 regarding corroded coil springs, causing a ruptured tire which could result in an accident. The remedy was to make a shield and to notify customers when this shield was ready. On 12-30-04, vehicle was in an accident but no one was injured. He had the coil springs replaced. In 1-05, consumer received another recall #04S17, explaining the delay in getting these shields prepared. In 05-2005, he received a letter stating the parts were available. He contacted the dealer who said they would not fix the recall. Ford said they would not pay for it either. Neither would reimburse him for the repair work he already had done. Also, transmission on went out after the coil springs were replaced. He felt that transmission problem was due to the accident that occurred in 2004.
