This problem first appeared before I bought the car. The owner had to get an emissions test and it failed. The code they pulled for them stated it was an EGR Valve problem. They replaced the EGR valve, and it passed the IM test. Shortly after, 120 miles, the code set again. In scanning it myself, I found the EGR valve was suspect again. I reset the code and continued to drive. A week and 60 miles later, I scanned for codes again. It came back as a pending code for the EGR. Research on the internet stated it would most likely be the EGR pressure differential sensor gone bad. I took it to a mechanic and determined the same result. They replaced the sensor and reset everything. It seems to work fine for now.
