Recently when you place the Taurus into Drive or Reverse, you hear a loud clunk. When investigated, you can see the cv shaft beginning to turn, then stops or hesitates and then snaps into place. Fluid is clean, and no metal shavings or debris in it, almost looks like fresh fluid. Did not have my vin # handy or I would have included it. Some days the snapping is loud and sounds like the torque converter is going to snap in half, and some days it is a little more quiet and not so dramatic in noise. Wife is actually afraid of driving it, we live in the mountains of TN, and some of our roads there is no place to pull off, so if it goes, she would be stuck on an extremely steep grade with no where to go but down and backwards. Other than this, the car has been exceptional on maintenance, costing us very little to keep it going. And now we heading for a major disaster, and a sad ending to an otherwise good car.
