I am so frustrated! This is the newest car I've ever owned and just off factory warranty. I use the cruise control everyday. I've had Fords most of my life and the Cruise control is the last thing to go bad, say around 160,000 miles. Mine went at 46,000! The cruise seemed to quit working, cruise lights on, but no acceleration, then the lights went out but the cruise stayed on! Then the next time I shut the car off and when I started it back up, the acceleration pedal 'stuck'. OK that was not half bad, but now we got a heavy snow fall! Now it is really bad! Acceleration on ice and snow is not good! I have yet to figure out what I'm going to do since it is off factory warranty and I don't see any recalls, I doubt I along with 1 other person are the only fortunate ones to experience this! Please help if you know what I should do. I will try to disable my cruise. I already tried by pulling the fuses. By the way, that didn't work. Particularly # 27.

My car's cruise control cable busted, I was NOT using it at the time, and have not used it in WEEKS. The cable was found bound around the throttle body (pinning my accelerator down causing dangerous acceleration of car while driving!). My car was accelerating uphill at freeway speeds all on its own! It was very difficult to stop the vehicle. When placed in Neutral at stoplight (to alleviate my fears of shooting out into the intersection) the RPM shot up to over 5000! I had to lightly tap on the gas pedal repeatedly while my engine was doing this until finally the pedal unstuck momentarily, came and hit me in the foot, and the RPM's returned to normal, allowing me to actually go back into gear and continue the freaky drive home.
This sticking repeatedly occurred on the scary drive home from work, as well the equally freaky drive to the dealer the next morning. I had to pay $100 just to have them disengage the darn cable from the throttle body!!!. Now my cruise control is broken, and my car has no warranty, it expired 4000 miles ago. I requested that the dealer contact Ford directly on my behalf to see if they would cover the costs. No word yet. I am thanking my lucky stars that the pedal did not stick while I was accelerating hard, this could have ended in a horrible traffic accident! This should at minimum be covered by Ford, and if it is a problem that is happening to others this should be recalled!!!!

Driving along and it seems as if the cruise control takes over all by itself. very scarry. no cruise control lights come on, no check engine light. stepping on brake does not release it. have to pump accelerator to get it to release. of coarse warranty is over.
