Taurus SEL 6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

When using the paddle shifters going from 1st to 2nd, occasionally it results in an extremely loud thump from the transmission. It's loud enough that you look in the rear view mirror to see if there are parts on the ground behind you. You have to come to a stop, shift to neutral and then proceed. Other times the transmission seems to get 'confused' and hesitates a bit.

Taurus SHO V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,500 miles

Car would slip out of gear, clunk into/out of gear, the rear camera would activate. It would also clunk at low speeds.

After many complaints to the dealer, they couldn't replicate the problem and basically told me to go away. I called Ford who immediately jumped to action to help me get this resolved. The recommended another dealer. I went there, they knew exactly what the issues were, applied the appropriate TSB's over two days, and the car has been fine ever since. A great dealer is key to good service and satisfaction.

Taurus SHO 3.5L Twin Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,164 miles

Problem with the transmission popping out of gear/missing shifts started with just over 18,000 miles. It has continued on and off now up to the current 27,750 miles. I"ve reported four occurrences and have put up with at least as many. I've been out on the road with the mechanic, He has taken the car home hooked up to sensors. Still no answer. Today at a stoplight, the brake pedal seemed to pulse as if the trans was hunting for the right gear. I don't know if I can trust it on long trips this summer at this point.

I have had the transmission slow to shift problem for about 6 months. I took in to dealer and they made adjustments to the shift points. It helped with the aggressive hard shifts when going real slow and accelerating, but worsened the mid shift of 35 MPH to 50 MPH. Recently it started slipping from a dead stop taking off. Dropped it off Monday as they have a bulletin out for this issue. It has been 3 days and still no car. All I can say is hope they fix the issue and thankfully under warranty.

Taurus SHO 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

I just bought a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with 11,000 miles. Day 2 the tranny slips, bumps, & shudders for 5 or 10 seconds. This problem is happening every few days, 1 to 3 instances per day that it happens. I have yet to take it in for service, my gut tells me that the dealer is going to have trouble finding this problem.

Taurus SEL 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,100 miles

The car suddenly makes a loud bang and shudders, with the car almost coming to a full stop when shifting from a slow speed to an increase in acceleration. Dealer has replaced sensors and it has reoccurred for the third time in a year. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem, so it doesn't exist. I am here to tell you, it has happened, and three times this year.

I notified the dealer of transmission slipping (it only happened that 1 day) have not experienced it since, but have an appointment at the dealer on Monday, 12/6 for them to look at it. Will post the results when received.

Update from Dec 8, 2010: Went to pick up 2010 Taurus today, 12/8/2010, I was told nothing wrong with transmission. The invoice reads as follows: ROADTEST VEH W/CUSTOMER (THEY NEVER TOOK ME ON A ROAD TEST) TRANS SHIFT FLAIR ON COAST TIP IN. Taurus 3.5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

The 2010 Ford SHO was having a problem when taking off from a stop light or stop sign. About 2nd gear the transmission went into neutral and then went back into gear with a bang. The Ford dealer hooked the car up to their computer but everything read okay. The mechanic drove the car and the problem didn't occur. On the third trip in, the mechanic experienced the problem. The transmission was taken apart and new sensor was put in. It seems to have made the difference. The Ford dealer did do their best to locate the problem and fix it as soon as it was identified. I was happy the way I was treated by the dealer.
