Sliding rear door drivers side opened own it's own while i was driving. would not close, kept reopening, had to muscle closed. it has continued to happen frequently. I have seen many complaints on the year, model, for this issue. Why has there been no safety recall done? This is very dangerous.I have not taken for repairs, I have a very modest SS income and jut can not afford that. Car can be inspected at any time.

I like to bring to your attention a still ongoing life-threatening safety issue with the Ford Windstar 2000 rear axle. As you know, the Windstar's were recalled for this safety issue in 2010. My particular car was reinforced with 2 brackets under safety recall 10S13 at the most critical part of the axle and I think in the area were the brackets are installed the axle will hold up even with a lot of corrosion present. The problem is the axle is cracking just 1 inch to the right beside the reinforced bracket in my case the driver's side of the car. The only reason I found out about this, a few weeks ago I had my car serviced and I did an inspection on the axle and that's when I found that big crack half way around the axle!!! that same day I went to my Ford dealer (bill brown) to bring it to their attention, unfortunately for the service manager this was not a recall matter anymore and he had no interest of inspecting the axle without charging me $ $125. Naturally I refused to pay that amount.

Rear axle brakets-the braket was reinforced about 2yrs ago and for the 2nd time Ford is saying that maybe was reforced wrong, try make appoint. To confirm if they were done correctly or not and now nobody call back to make an appointm. Or when they can look into and if I want the work done I can $300 to replace it on top the letter was receive last week of Sept. And due date to replace for that price is October 31st. Why not mail airlier when dealers always are so busy", contact the 866 ph and they say mostly the letter was for to replace it for $300. I need somebody check first before make decisions, why am I have to pay without seen the car? in this website you don't show any recall, what's wrong with all of you people" please help.

My wife, daughter and granddaughter were in the van and it started to swerve a little back and forth, but the wife didn't know why. They made it home and I looked at it and saw that the rear axle was almost completely broke in half. We're lucky that it didn't go out of control while they were driving.

On July 14, 2015 while driving the vehicle the engine literally fell out of the car onto the roadway and unable to steer. Vehicle was towed to champion Lincoln Mercury in brockton MA on that day. There was a recall #11S16 on March 11, 2011 for the subframe lower control arm rear attaching flanges rear body mounts. Vehicle was inspected and passed on May 31, 2011. It has been 4 months and Ford refuses to supply the necessary parts to fix my vehicle. I've attached all recall notices, repairs, inspections and pictures as requested. We could have been killed or caused serious damage to someone else as a result of this defect in my vehicle. Even the dealership is appalled at the treatment received in this matter. I would appreciate any help you may be able to provide in resolving this issue.

The instrument cluster gauges start dancing back and forth, then the tack gauge maxed out and stuck under the shift indicator. I went to a Ford dealer in fort wayne in. And they removed the cluster and broke off part of the tack needle so it can't become stuck again. Still to this day (a year later) the gauges start dancing and sometimes freeze in a position. Once it showed I was doing 80 mph while stopped at a stop light. Some days they work then other times they dont. I recently found out this is a common problem with Ford Windstar. Look up dancing gauges Windstar on you-tube and see all the issues people show. If this is such a big issue why isnt something being done about it? respectfully, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).?

I was driving down on 896, in the left hand lane, when my 2000 Ford Windstar LX van stopped running. I was going about 50mph when all of a sudden it just stopped. (I did have some transmission slipping previously but it had stopped.) (I thought that it was because the van hadn't been driven for about 4 months). I immediately put my hazards on and called the Delaware state police. If this had happened on the interstate, I would have been killed. As it was. It happened this morning while I was on my way to work. I had people come flying up behind my vehicle and blowing their horn at me. Thankfully it was not rush hour otherwise I would not be here right now, which means my children would be motherless!

While driving down the highway my van van stopped accelerating and acted like I was in neutral. Luckily I had no cars behind me because I would have been rear ended if there had. My transmission went out and was told I need a new one at 2400 dollars. I had no gears forward or reverse but the van would still run and turn on fine. Had to have it towed. As a parent of four kids who regularly are in this van I am disappointed that Ford has not recalled these for safety with all of these complaints. Will it take someone dying for them to do something? I can definitely say I will not be buying a Ford again since they can't stick by there motor and make things right!

I bought my van used just a month before I noticed this defect, I came outside to get in the van and noticed the rear wheels leaning slightly inward at the top. My son in law inspected it further to discover that the rear axle had bent. Upon further investigation we discovered that there had been a recall on all Ford Windstar models between 1998 and 2003. We notified Ford and they told us that this vehicle had already been recalled and repaired in 2011 and the repair had a 12 month warranty. My son in law checked and sure enough there were repair sleeves wrapped around the rear axle at both ends. This repair did not fix the original problem because the rear axle had cracked right under where the repair sleeve was placed and had bent bad, bad enough that both rear tires were rubbing the inner fenders at the top and the van was sitting much lower in the rear end than it should have been. Thank god I had noticed the problem before the axle completely cracked in half the rest of the way because there is nothing else holding the rear wheels onto the vehicle and if I was driving the wheel and part of the axle could have flown off to who knows where and possibly killed me and whoever else was in the van. I've had to completely replace the rear axle with another part from another van which is also defective and will soon have to be replaced again. Ford takes no responsibility for this past the original "fix" which was warrantied for only 12 months. The recall was not a good fix and seems to have only been a band aid to keep customers quiet until the warranty on it runs out. I have done research online and found that this is not an isolated incident and in fact has happened to many hundreds of people, coincidentally around the same time as my incident happened.

Work was performed on the sub frame of the 2000 Ford Windstar referenced above on April 16, 2012, as a result of a Ford recall notice, number: 11S16. The recall description is as follows: "corrosion-related fractures of the front lower control arm rear attaching brackets and body mount attachments may occur. A separation of a front lower control arm rear attaching bracket may result in a lower control arm separation. A separation of both front subframe rear body mounts may result in separation of the steering intermediate shaft. Either condition could result in significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash." The work done on April 16, 2012 was performed by sheehy Ford in gaithersburg, md. Who installed new brackets on the sub frame, to prevent the sub frame from breaking and/or eroding. At the time, there was a great deal of advanced rusting on the sub frame. On August 30, 2014, the car was taken back to sheehy Ford, after loud knocking noises could be heard under the hood. Sheehy Ford looked at the car, consulted with their technicians and reported back on September 4, 2014 that the sub frame had rusted through. The sounds coming from the car were due to the unstable sub frame, which holds the parts of the car in place. They also advised the car was unsafe to drive. After an additional review, sheehy Ford concluded that the previous work in April of 2012 was sufficient to hold the sub frame. They have since held fast to their claim that no further "programs" are available to be able to repair the current problem of a rusted sub frame in the car. A complaint was also made through Ford Motor Company customer service center. They took the complaint and provided a case number of: 5190828L6X2X4X, but ultimately their decision is the same as sheehy: No other programs are available to cover the cost of any additional repair to the car. 1/5/15.

My 2000 Ford Windstar is at john lance Ford in westlake Ohio for the rear axle recall. They offered me a buyout. The thing is I can't afford a new car and the payments that come with it. I was very happy my Windstar was finally paid off. Now I hear that there is a new recall out from last week for a new reason. So now I have been with a replacement car ( provided by Ford) for 4-5 months already. Who in the mean time is starting my van from time to time through this brutal winter " will I ever get my van back and if so will it be " driver ready?" I really would love a new auto and though the offer for the van is more then the blue book it is not enough. What is the status of my van repair and who should I call to service this loaner car as I feel it now needs some maintenance" and feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling that the van is not repairable and this has been a very log inconvenience yours truly
