ABS & brake light goes on and off. Diagnostics say it is the modulator. A week ago there was brake fluid leaking but, now there is no leakage so they can't find the source. They want $650 to fix it!!!! this vehicle my daughter drives w/ her 5 children. We cant afford to fix it!!!! we cant afford another vehicle!!! this not safe and Ford should have to pay 4 it!!!!

Brake, ABS, and other lights come on, drive disengages, van will only run in 2nd or low gear until you turn it off then on again. Very dangerous situation as the van loses power and decelerates. Fuse #1 sparks when putting in a fuse. Blows the fuse immediately. Interior light then will not work. Van is currently being looked at by phil long Ford.

The ABS light keeps coming on in my Ford van and the brakes get hard to push. It seems to happen more often when the van warms up or the whether gets warm. Ford does not recognize a problem and will not fix it.

The contact was renting a 2003 Ford Windstar. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not stop. The contact noticed smoke and the brake warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. She had to apply pressure to the brake pedal several times in order to stop the vehicle. She called the rental company and they stated that there was nothing wrong with the brake system. They concluded that the brake system possibly needed to be serviced. The VIN and speed were unknown. The failure mileage was 62,221.

: the contact stated the brake and ABS lights illuminated without incident. An independent repair shop determined there was no problem with the vehicle and reset the codes. The lights illuminated again and the dealership determined the ABS master cylinder needed to be replaced. Also, the door ajar light stayed illuminated, but was not been inspected by a mechanic.

There were problems with the transmission and brake equipment on 2003 Ford Windstar. The transmission downshifted at a low speed, the vehicle locked up while pulling out of a parking space, loud grinding noises, and the brake pads jumped.

There is a noise in the rear break drums caused by moisture. There was a noise in the rear brake. The dealer stated that the problem was due to moisture and not to worry. The transmission was problematic, and the rear brakes had started to not stop properly. The rear brakes were readjusted, and a new transmission was added. The noise in the brakes had returned.
