The contact owns a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was applied and became stuck to the floorboard abnormally. The contact was able to control the vehicle in order to avoid crashing into a preceding vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle home, inspected the brake system and discovered that several brake lines were corroded. One of the brake lines was replaced a few years prior to the most recent failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 100,791.

I was driving in medium traffic when a vehicle in front of me stopped quickly and I applied my brakes. Then I noticed the peddle go down to the floor. That was the only warning I received and so I immediately drove home pumping my brakes when I needed to stop and tried to stop infrequently as possible.

The 1st prob left rear brake line broke. 2nd prob 37000 mi had to replace all rotors and pads because rotors rusted and chewed up pads, also replaced 1 caliper and brake line. 3rd prob 10/11 42115 mi other rear brake line broke. 4rth prob 12/11 42450mi brake line to the proportioning valve broke. The first prob I was rolling to a stop @ a stop sign. The 3rd and 4rth prob happened in my driveway. It should be a crime to put peoples lives in danger because of inferior materials.

Thank goodness no one was hurt, and no vehicle hit when my brake lines burst on this vehicle. When repaired the mechanic said they basically rotted off from rust and that this is a very common problem on these vehicles. I understand some maintenance is normal on any truck, but being able to use your fingers to crumble parts of the brake line is not. You need to investigate this before people are hurt or killed, if some haven't been already. You also need to revisit the ABS sensor problem from the previous recall. That fix did not work, so all I could do is disconnect them or chance an accident!!!!!!!!!!

Rust- had to replace all the brake lines, rocker panels and cab corners, gas tank straps rusted out and broke off.both spring shackles broke from rust and had to be replaced, the frame had to be fixed(cracked) and now the shock mounts have rusted off and have to be fixed and its only got 115,000 miles.

My 2000 GMC Sierra's frame is extremely rusted. Parts of the frame have rusted completely through. All the brakes lines have been replaced due to rust as have many other brake parts. I purchased the truck used but previous owner stated he replaced the brake lines due to a low speed accident.

The vehicle coasted to a stop and was safely driven home and the contact noticed that there was a hole in the brake lines due to corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. Truck had failed to stop at an intersection as we approached red light. Upon depressing the pedal the brake pedal went to the floor just enough to get truck slowed before emergency pedal was depressed to come to a complete stop. We were traveling about 20 miles an hour before we reached intersection about 75 yards away. As light turned green, we slowly pulled into a parking lot and parked truck until a tow truck could get vehicle back to the garage for repairs. Upon inspection by our mechanic, it was found that the brake line had ruptured near the anti-lock brake housing which was caused by corrossion and poor brake line tubing material. It was noted that material was not stainless steel or any non-corrosive material supplied and installed by the oem. It took two weeks for our truck to be repaired as the mechanic had to customer bend the new brake lines because oem does not have replacement lines which came to a final cost of close to $1300.

1st incident on or about November 2010 rear brake line failure no previous warning light indication - steel line burst causing brake failure along with emergency brake failed this happened at about 10 miles an hour so the vehicle was able to be stopped by a curb. Testing the brakes none worked even though it was a rear line failure. Vehicle towed and repaired by replacing the line from absbox to rear and the emergency brake shoes and rear disc pads were also replaced. Even with the emergency brake shoe replacement its ability to stop the truck was minimal at best 2nd incident on or about August 2011 the truck failed to pass nc state safety inspection as emergency brake would not hold - the emergency brake shoes and rear disc pads were replaced again with similar results with the previous replacement - with marginal emergency braking operation, but enough to pass the nc state inspection - also the backing plates of the rear brakes had to be replaced as they had rusted away 3rd incident on or about October 2011 front brake failure no previous warning light indication - steel line to front brakes burst where two of the lines were rubbing together where they cross over the frame from the ABS box. This occurred at a stop sign. The hydraulic system maintained some stopping ability and that combined with the recently replaced emergency brake pads did stop the truck just slightly past the stop sign. To move the vehicle to a safe location it had no hydraulic stopping ability, but the emergency brake did function marginally at the very slow speed. The vehicle again needed to be towed. Due to the way the front four steel lines are run and bundled together with obvious other points where these lines rub together combined with rust will require all the front steel lines to be replaced including the steel lines from the master cylinder too the ABS box.

Anti lock brake sensor corrosion causes low speed braking failure. Driving at less than 5 mph was terrifying. Almost hitting pedestrians at a crosswalk, rolling into an intersection, and almost hitting a stopped car in front of me. I took the truck to the dealer and they verified the corroded sensors. This was a recalled issue already complied with. No help from GM. They said the burden was mine.

While coming to a stop and depressing the brake pedal the vehicle would not stop until he pulled the emergency brake. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and towed to his home. After inspecting the brakes, he noticed the corrosion on the brake line and brake fluid was leaking. The dealer nor manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,365.

The original flexible brake hose on the front passenger side of my 2000 GMC Sierra vehicle failed resulting in the loss of front brakes. It appears that the hose is too long and the hose rubbed on the rim. The delco replacement that I purchased has been totally redesigned. It is much shorter and the connection to the caliper has to be angled at a 45 degree angle, so that the will be no contact with the rim. After replacing the passenger side, I checked the driver's side hose and found the same problem. The hose shows rubbing is occurring. I will have to put a replacement hose on that side also.

Brakes failed entirely. Luckily I had an emergency brake. 7 brake lines had rusted out and had to be replaced. - cost $1076. I have also had to replace my rear brakes 3 times in 86000 miles. Front brakes were replaced only once. Mechanic says that perhaps the proportioning value is ng. There was a recall but GM said it did not include my vehicle. I think this was a lie.

While driving home I pushed the brake pedal and experienced a ruptured brake line under the drivers side door. Luckily no crash occurred because I was on a back road with no traffic. After inspection it was confirmed that all brake lines were very badly corroded and all were ready to fail. The worst damage appeared near the wheels which I would assume is due to road salt and moisture.

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra that had brake line rust through causing brake failure. I got under the vehicle to try and change the line and found all the lines are severely rusted as is the fuel lines. Yes my truck is old and I live in the rust belt of N.Y but something needs to be done either N.Y stop using salt or the vehicles need to be built with lines that don't rust out. This issue I think is a safety issue that would be easily fixed by either no more salt or better line in the vehicles that don't rust through.
