Noticed a crack in the dash by airbag . The dash cracked on its own . GM needs to be liable for this . I would not have bought this vehicle had I known it would tear up by itself .These crooked people are getting rich overnight and not being held reasonable for selling defective items to the public.

cracked dash

My complaint is for the cracked dashboard just above the forward left corner of the passenger side airbag compartment. The dash cracked for no apparent reason; there is no known cause. My concern is both cosmetic and safety. Not only should a vehicle less than 5yrs old not have a cracked dashboard, but since the dash is cracked directly adjacent to the air bag compartment, and is apparently prone to cracking, there is the potential for the dash to splinter and project small pieces of plastic into the body of passengers if the airbag were to be deployed.

cracked dash

Purchased a new GMC 1500 Sierra Denali in Oct. 2013 In Sept. 2016 I noticed a crack on the dash around the passenger air bag. 2 weeks later I noticed a larger crack on the driver side - almost exactly like the pictures for the complaint on the 2011 GMC Sierra Denali. Original warranty has expired however I purchased an aftermarket extended warranty. In reading over my contract I am guessing they won't cover it. Plan to go back to the dealership to see what they say and to also check with my extended warranty. From reading the other posts, I am also guessing it will come out of my pocket.

My vehicle has never been in a wreck, is parked in a garage daily as I am retired and don't drive every day, and all 37,500 miles are highway miles with no rough roads or off-roading so there is really no reason for this to happen. One crack is right at the passenger air bag and I am concerned that it might deploy unexpectedly or worse yet, might not deploy at all when needed. The crack on the driver side looks like it might just keep on going.

This seems to be an unattended to issue common with more than one model year. Plan to contact GMC as well - for all the good it will do.

If ANYONE knows why it happens with these trucks and why warranty will not cover it, please contact me. I am completely and thoroughly discussed with this.
