Researched this on the internet found out it’s been an ongoing issue There is or was a law suit pending in California. Called local GMC dealer and the claim they have never had an issue and it will cost me $215.00 bucks just for them to look at it . That is a crock of sh*t

These are the worst lights on any vehicle that I have ever owned. I love everything else about this truck but you absolutely cannot drive it at night in dark areas. If it's really dark and raining, you can hang it up. You're better off sticking your head out the window with a flashlight! I have paid to have various types of lights replaced in this vehicle. I was finally told by a GM mechanic that no type of light would help. He said that GM states that it is "normal government rating" but in his opinion, it is a design flaw. Prior to finding this out in May 2023!, I have tried bulbs ranging from $30 to $100 each. It's like flushing money down the toilet. I am seriously considering selling it because it's useless to try to drive at night. What's the point of having a car that you can only drive during the day? Sad that GM will not admit that their engineers screwed the pooch on this one!

The HEADLIGHTS POOR PERFORMANCE IS ACTUALLY A SAFETY HAZARD. Normal lights are very dim and have NO PROJECTION into the night. The BRIGHT lights shine upward into the tree tops. They are absolutely worthless. I've contacted my GM Dealer in Laurens, SC and they have stated they are within factory specifications. I am very disappointed with GM on several issues and this one just may break my loyalty. It appears the some knucklehead WIZ Kid thought they had a better idea and actually made things MUCH WORSE.

I believe G.M. owes their loyal Customers a satisfactory FIX.

Terrible, terrible headlights... Dim Dim Dim. It's like it is foggy all the time. I can't stand it any more. The side of the road is blocked out when I want to turn. I can't get any help to replace the lights as of yet. Somebody - please help me with a solution. The company doesn't want to admit this is a major problem. I noticed they dropped this idea in the 2016 models (the projector)... Please send me a helpful idea to upgrade my lights because I just don't drive at night with it anymore. Please help.

I've owned 5 Full size 1500 GMC/CHEVY trucks in my life, and this 2015 is by far the worst Headlight illumination (both low and high beam) that I've ever experienced. I IMMEDIATELY ordered a HID MORIMOTO Retrofit kit from The Retrofit Source website www.theretrofitsource.com/ and luckily had the skills/knowledge to install myself (took about 3 hours total) but the results were MONUMENTALLY improved. This demonstrated that the headlamp assembly is JUST FINE - the pattern is good and the bulbs themselves were the weak link. GMC just went CHEAP on their OEM bulbs.

What a shame GMC.

The poorest night vision headlights I ever owned or on any vehicle I have ever driven at night. GM should have already had a recall on this. Especially since it is safety related. Also transmission programming is funky..

The lighting pattern on the headlights is awful. God forbid it’s raining! Even the high beams are terrible and seem to shine in one direction. There is no widening pattern at all. Not sure about anyone else but it’s difficult to see the road when oncoming traffic passes you at night. I hope GM recalls this issue or is forced to fix all Sierra models by order of the Supreme Court.

Update from Nov 5, 2018: Upgraded from Phillips stock bulbs to Sylvania Silverstar Ultra for $60. There's a much better spread pattern and longer distance with the lights but I've noticed in instances where you're driving down hill, you lose a ton of visibility. This thing needs hill-adaptive headlamps.

I also looked into buying an HID kit but most got mixed reviews and it shouldn't be a complicated or expensive process to fix an issue like this.

Solution: Don't buy a 2014/ 2015 model GMC Sierra. It's the worst Gen truck GMC has produced.

Headlights are very dim and I am afraid to drive at night. I contacted the GMC dealer here in Green Bay and they told me that they have experienced this problem ( bulletin) and have updated the lights by working with the BCM. I just want to be able to drive this vehicle at night. I would like to have any solutions to this problem before I get upset and get rid of the vehicle. Bought it used 4 months ago. I do read that they changed the lights in a 2016 GMC trucks so they must have realized they have problems.. Just please get my lights to work better.

Headlights are poor. GM issued a TSB for people that complained but no recall. I purchased at 37k so beyond the 3yr/36k. I am purchasing after market LED lights. OEM lights are near unsafe in my opinion.

Since the day 1 the headlights on my brand new Sierra were not bright and rather dimmed. Driving on a highway is not a big issue if that highway is illuminated. However, if it is a low light area like country side or no street lights neighborhood you are in trouble. Since you cannot see the road at the front of the vehicle you have to go very slow and to be very careful. I went to the GMC dealer today because I've found that there is a TSB#PIT5374. Lets see if it will resolve the issue.

Update from Aug 24, 2016: August 24, 2016. Had my truck at the dealer for a month. This truck has vibration issue at 65-70 MPH and the dealer had to replace almost entire rear end of the truck and two engineers from GM had visited the dealer during those repairs. I should admit that after all these repairs the vibration is barely noticeable now. However, if you load 300-400 lb of payload on the truck it feels like no repairs was done.

So, the dealer has done some work on the headlights as well. I've got my truck back almost two weeks ago and couldn't say if anything changed with the head lights. Therefore, these two weeks i was driving as usual trying to figure out if I would notice any improvement on the lights.... After two weeks I cannot say that the headlights are brighter enough and I definitely see it. I would speculate that it might be a bit better, but I am not sure about it. Driving in the evening while it is slightly/moderate raining is a difficult task and the headlight don't give bright enough light pattern.

Update from Sep 26, 2016: Well, I did have some time to test the new (recently replaced by GMC dealer) light bulbs. In short, it doesn't make any difference at all! It is a very strange feeling about these headlights.... While you driving trough a city with city lights on you will not be able to say if your truck headlights are on or off because it is very dim. If you drive on country side you will definitely slow down in dark times jut because you cannot see the road well enough.

Any rain makes a huge difference! Lets say you are driving in a poor lighted area and moderate rain would start..... Well, pretty much you are blind and you want to go 20-25 MPH or less to be able to see the road.

Poor, very poor head lights!

2015 GMC Sierra with terrible headlights!

GM will not cover the fix due to mileage. Bought this truck used and over the bumper to bumper mileage so gm says its possible that the condition of the truck is what has caused the issue. Vehicle has been well taken care of! While looking for solutions via aftermarket, discovered that there is a TSP on the vehicle that states that it needs the BCM reprogrammed and the headlight bulbs replaced in order to achieve good lighting conditions. I asked the rep (with no answer) how the condition of this vehicle effected the programming of the BCM. I can change the lights if I need to, but I cannot program the BCM. Dealership is happy to do this on my dime! Just sad that you can purchase such a nice vehicle and have such poor lighting and no help from the manufacturer.

I dont feel like I am asking for much, TSP says .2 hours (12min) for reprogramming BCM. C'mon GM stand behind what you make, your making it tough for us loyal customers to keep coming back!

The headlights on my 2015 GMC Sierra 4x4 are less than efficient, especially considering that GM is 2nd to no other vehicles in the world!

Also this vehicle is a top of the line pick up not an entry level vehicle. For the price tag of the vehicle it should have headlights 2nd to none! So why doesn't GM step up to the plate and take care of this problem. Oh and by the way Ford outsells GM 3 to 1 in my county and that makes me sick! I wouldn't drive anything other than GM for my personal vehicle even if you gave it to me, however when these kind of things happen GM embarrasses me.

These head lights are so bad I can't believe GM hasn't done anything about them. I read many complaints. These have been bad since it was new. They have worked on them several times. ended up raising the low beam to the point everyone was flashing their high beams. The shutter makes a straight line across with total darkness above. When making a turn there is absolutely no light to the side. I'm afraid some day I'm going to hit something. I was hoping by now GM would have a fix. Very disappointed!
