Oil burning too quickly I recent got an oil change in Aug, checked oil and it was completely dry less then 2 months (oil consumption recall expired) I had same issue in 2017 but my was non operational due to oil consumption problem damaged my engine and dealer couldn't run test so I paid for new engine out of pocket! Second issue shortage in rear passenger lights I've changed bulbs several times now I see there's a shortage definitely.

The liftgate on my 2011 GMC Terrain failed on 8/31/2021. It lifted to the 3/4 setting and then fell, hitting me in the head, and then it lifted back up and then closed. I have tried to operate the liftgate several times following this incident and it continues to do the same thing. I currently have the liftgate in the Off position so that it does not cause bodily injury to anyone else. Please confirm that there will be a recall associated with this incident since bodily injuries were incurred.

Excessive engine oil consumption about a quaker of oil every 2000 miles. This vehicle was bought from a non GMC as used certified with 145450 miles date 01/18/2019. By then then vehicles was classified as recall. With especial coverage warranty from GMC please see bulletin number 15285A. I reach out to GM customer engagement center of ca, but they refused to pay for diagnoses fees and repairs, quote the vehicle is over 120000. I had also made a complain to the better business bureau. I would like GMC pay for diagnoses and repairs to a certified local GMC dealership. Thank you for you help respectfully, customer

On 08/05/2020 I was sold this vehicle with a cracked manifold. Upon replacement of the manifold it was discovered that two manifold bolts were seared on the engine block side. After consulting my mechanic and another, I was advised that 1) to repair the engine has to be lifted as the space between the firewall and the engine is too small to make repairs without lifting the engine ( manufacture defect). Further, it was advised to me that completely sealing the manifold could lead to a fire in the catalytic converter because ' these engines run hot'. as I expressed that this vehicles 'antifreeze' level is not stable as I have experienced with other vehicles. In other words this vehicle burns up antifreeze quicker than I've seen occur in other vehicles. After researching the topic it was discovered by consumer reports that these vehicles have major defective engines with repairs to manifold being notorious. And to have to have the engine lifted each time is unreasonably costly. And I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle if a defective engine runs hot and there's a risk of fire. This is exacerbated by the fact of the tiny space between the engine and firewall within the vehicle.

Proven oil consumption problem on my car as well as many others leading to a class act which has failed just about everyone. Car is completely unsafe and these cars require a new engine among other fixes in order to avoid the engine blowing. My engine blew on the highway with no warning despite regular oil changes and maintenance. The oil consumption problem has been documented by GM and they are still negligent to the issue. The car was in motion on the highway going around 70 mph when the engine blew. There is supposed to be an oil light signifying low oil which did not go off as well as doing 3 oil consumption tests mandated by GM in order for them to do any repairs. All were failed tests and GM still pushed for more tests that required me to keep driving it. Despite the failed tests they still fought it and the engine blew over this time.

I was having the struts and shocks looked at in my car. While the worker finished the job, he put the car down and took it for a test drive to make sure it was good to go. One that test drive, he said something did not seem correct. After he got it back to the shop and back on the rack, the frame was cracked and rusted through. This was not the case when my car was previously worked on by getting a new ball joint back in the fall of 2019.

My wife was driving the vehicle and went over a bump and heard a bang come from the rear driver side of the vehicle. When I looked you could see the were the rear suspension bolts to the sub-frame was all rusted away, so I inspected the passenger side of the vehicle and it was almost like the drivers side. If the bushings were not tight that arm would have fallen down and it would have ripped the whole rear of the car out causing and accident were people would have been injured or killed.

Multiple times my GMC stalls while in movement. Does it when I am making turns driving slow speeds or backing up. Multiple times it has resulted in my vehicle almost being hit. Big problem I am having as well is that oil seems to burn fast. I get my oil changes regularly but have to go back into shop between oil changes for them to put more oil in as its burning out so quickly. I am not leaking oil at all!! these two things have been a constant problem being a mom I am scared to have M uh kids in the car that it may malfunction while they are in it and result in an accident. Recalls should be in place to fix these problems as they are serious problems.

Transmission failure with no warning, torque converter replacement $3,500 around 120K miles. Check engine light unable to be diagnosed or repaired succesfully since 100K miles. Code P0420 with no catalytic converter issues. Every O2 sensor replaced, code will not clear. Stalls without any warning, low RPM, rough idles, engine just shuts down. No dash indicator lights illuminate when failure occurs. Restarts. Oil must be changed early as it seems to consume too much. Undiagnosable. Have been told by every mechanic it could be computer related, timing chain related, regardless this 4cyl GMC has too many complaints for yheae issues not to have a recall. It is incredibly dangerous when random engine failure occurs and I have had more close calls fearing for my life in this vehicle than I can recall at this point. I have spent almost the value of this vehicle in major repairs in the year I have owned it.

The automatic lift gate will open, reach the top and then automatically go down. It will go half way, pop back open to the top then fully shut. It does not read that something is stopping it from closing. The enclave, traverse, acadia and outlook are currently under recall with the same issue but not the Terrain.

Driving home from work and making a right hand turn the car started making a horrible grinding noise. I thought my wheel was coming detached from the car. Had the car towed and have been told that my front differential "exploded". not a happy camper, bought 2nd hand, has 77,000 miles now costing me $2500 to $5000 to repair. Sad thing is, is we never use the 4 wheel drive.

Catalytic converter recall. I have had an issue my 2011 GMC Terrain for about a 7 months now. Back in November of 2017, so I have had a problem with my car for about a month and a half at that time, I took my Terrain in for a regularly sechedualed oil change. While getting my oil changed I asked if they could look at my car to see what the problem was. They said I had a leak in my exhaust and that my catalytic converter was broken. I was looking up prices to get the catalytic converter changed and saw there was a recall for it and called my local Chevy dealership to find out more. I am now at 123000 miles, so the dealership told me that I was over the allowed miles of 120,000. I switched P.O. boxes and never received a letter letting me know about the recall. I do have the paper saying that the catalytic converter is broken and at the time I had 119,856 miles which is just under the 120,000 mile mark, and that was after about a month and a half of issue with my Terrain. I wanted to know if you would honor the recall since I have the document stating I wasn't at 120,000 miles and that the catalytic converter was broken, the document is included in the picture below.

I smelled fumes. The check engine light did not go on. I brought to my mechanic who said it had a cracked exhaust manifold. Co is leaking into my car. I will pay $1000 to have this fixed. No accidents. Just a faint smell of gas. I have 2 kids and routinely bring other peoples' kids into my car. Unacceptable GMC.

Vehicle keeps shutting off when driving. I was at stop sign vehicle just shut off I started it back and try to go park it back home it shut off 4 times before it got in my driveway. The truck recently did the so samething two weeks ago and I took it to the dealership and was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I just recently got the fuel pump changed, this is when the issue started right after having the fuel pump changed. We went back to the same dealership and had them check the fuel pump but I was told that it was on properly. There are no indicators that pop up, no check engine light. This is very dangerous if on busy highways/interstates.
