Accord

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

I haven't had time to do this myself as it's cold out here but after a lot of research this seems to cure quit a bit.

Parts are cheap but this process is quite time consuming.

To prevent this you should use Honda Top End Engine cleaner. Or seafoam does about the same thing. I don't have the fancy tool but you can just put the break booster hose in the bottle and let it gently suck out the cleaner. It helps on clogged egr ports but won't clean them like it should be.

Good quality oil and monthly tanks of premium will also help prevent this.

My 92 prelude has almost exact same engine "5 speed" and yet to have any of these issues like the accord.

Update from Oct 29, 2009: I'm laid off work so got bored one day and cleaned the EGR ports. It ran better almost instantly!
