Terrible knocking noise under dash when AC set to extreme LO position. I took the dash apart, and found that the air mix motor and gears were slipping, causing the knock. I bought a new motor for $60, and replaced it...at which point I also adjusted the cable. It's fixed now. Knowing now that I could actually adjust it, I probably didn't need the motor, just an adjustment (I have a service manual).
