When I took my 2004 Accord in for the back light being out on the radio they said there was a service bulletin to fix this issue. However I am not covered because I am over the 105,000 miles. But Honda knows that this is a normal failure and will not cover it. I was treated very rudely by the customer service representative named Raymond. I then spoke to Walter in the escalation department where he said American Honda will not cover this repair. I feel it is unfair because they know this is going to happen on the 2004 models but don't cover it if you are out of warranty. Someone should start a class action lawsuit for this.

First my 2004 Honda Accord center display backlight went completely dark which Honda agreed to fix for $55.00 last year. Now my wife's 2004 has the same problem to which Honda says they have no obligation to correct. The warranty coverage was extended by Honda to 105K just for this KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. I'd like to emphasize this is a KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT that Honda is completely ignoring if your vehicle exceeds 105K miles. Honda has absolutely no problem telling me to shove it. So, when I trade both cars this year, Honda will not be on my short list of vehicle considerations.

Last night while my husband was driving my car, all the backlights for the radio went out. Talk about annoying. NO clock, can't see your temp, fan, radio station, volume......I was really worried that this was going to be costly but after doing a little research, I found out that this is a recall problem and is covered for 7 years or 100,000 miles. I called my Honda dealer and after giving them my VIN, they confirmed that yes, it is a recall and yes, it is covered at no cost to me. Yahoo!!! I am taking it in today so they can order the part and then they will replace it. Can't wait to have the display working again!

To have the display for almost 'everything' go out is unacceptable. No clock, no radio, no fan, no temperature, no CD, no XM radio, no dule setting, ect., ect. - And Honda says "Oh well", your car is only 5 years old, but you've driven more that 100,000 miles, so you're out of luck 'Sucker'! And for 30 years I've been a loyal Honda Customer. Maybe Toyota will be a better choice next time. But Honda probably doesn't care anyway!

I just could not believe a reliable Honda reputation build a crappy radio back light that is easily burn off like that. At least have a fuse or something to protect the light so the fix can easily manageable.

This is really just a pain in the ass, you can't even see the time or radio station, thank god for preset station. It pisses me off that I can't even see what vents my heat or air is coming out of or how hot or cold the temperature is at.I hate foreign cars, thats why I'm
buying a Ford.

My problem is even worse. The entire stereo system, which includes the radio/CD/clock, goes off automatically and the screen is empty whenever I start the car. It then comes back on after a good 2-3 miles drive. I'm not sure if it's caused by a faulty fuse because I still haven't had a chance to take a look at it. But this problem itself is causing a lot of inconvenience.

The audio-hvac display goes dark so that you can barely see the readout during the day. Everything still works but you can't see which station you're listening to, the heat temp, mode, etc.

My problem occurred in the middle of moving, so I was unable to get to the dealer right then. I finally was able to take it today and they said i was over 105,000 miles...I am only at 108,000. The problem occurred before 105k. I have loved Honda up until this point. I know us few are not the only one with the problem since they have sent out a bulletin to which I was not notified. I am not happy with how Honda is handling this. It is going to cost $150!!!!!! This Honda guy says he is doing us a favor (normally cost $350). we have til the end of the month to make a decision...that is b.s.
Ford fixed my problems with known defects with NO problems.
