CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.

The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.

Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

2005 Honda Accord accelerates unexpectedly every time at cold engine start. The RPM is 1,500 when cold. With foot on brake the RPM drops to 1,000. When the brake is released the car will start to roll for about 2 seconds and then suddenly the RPM jumps back to 1500 and the vehicle accelerates to almost 10 mph.

I purchased my 2005 Honda Accord in February. It started missing out a few days later. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear it feels like I am running over washboards. This happens a few times. I have taken my car to the dealership where I purchased my vehicle, four times and they can not diagnose the problem. A few of the excuses that they have given me are my ABS are not working correctly, I have a heated garage which is causing condensation- (I do not have a heated garage), or I keep buying bad fuel. A service technician felt the miss, but Honda dismissed it because they said that she was not a certified technician, and they could not go by her word. They have documented that my car does have a miss, but they can not locate the problem. Too say the least my car has been somewhat of a headache, and no one seems to know what the problem is, or even care to help.
