- PCM Update / Transmission Issue Recall: Issue May Cause Trans Failure - Hello All...You may want to take a look at this if you haven't been contacted by your dealer already. Just got a call from my dealer stating that I should come in for a computer reprogram for free...I have has issues when the car is rolling or slowly moving, the car seems to short circuit and sometime stall completely (seems like one of the symptoms here). This reporgram is supposed to prevent Transmission issues from happening...but will we / you get out money back or get free Trans rebuilds if it fails?

I just got off the phone with American Honda “customer service” chick Marshawn who gave me education on how to talk and listen on the phone and then “told” me that is an independent transmission repair shop does not replace with official Honda parts there is absolutely nothing available from Honda.
I then called Quality Transmissions and found out the replaced transmission is a Jasper not a Honda. If they had used a Honda tran it would have cost 6000 for the transmission alone.
Quality stated will be done some time tomorrow.
THIS IS FROM 2/29/12
Honda Customer Service basically told me there is no recall on my Honda, it is out of warrenity and even though I was stuck on the Pennsylvania turnpike outside of my area knowledge I should have taken it to a Honda dealer, used Honda parts and maybe Ithey "could do SOMETHING
The transmission place that completed the repair told me that place has had a "lot" of 2005 v-6 transmiddion failures.
I thought I had found my favorite auto manufacturer----I am on the look again for a company that has customer service and product back up.
Can anyone let me know.

This car NEVER sounded right and seemed to make a slight grinding sound on the initial movement in DRIVE. Brought it in a number of times. I thought maybe it was the torque converter or something like that but was told everything was ok. Most recently since it has gotten cold here in NJ, the car would not engage from Reverse to drive for about 5 seconds. Brought it in, (ALWAYS TO THE DEALER...for everything since new for that matter) and told everything is fine, fluid was fine, etc.
Yesterday my wife was driving light to light on Rt 70 in Cherry Hill (for the locals) and experiencing high revs, erratic shifting and down shifting was lagging when gassed to speed up. Completely erratic behavior. She made it to the dealer in Vineland and today we were told it was going to be $3800 to repair. I AM NOT HAPPY. A 2005 Accord with 83,000 miles' transmission dies??? This is completely unacceptable. I called Aamco and was told $1800 to repair it. Then the Honda dealer called me back and told me the "regional office" would allow it to be fixed (replaced with a Honda rebuilt tranny with a 3 yr/ 36,000 warranty which will probably be useless anyway) for $1600.
Either way I plan to get it fixed and trade it in on a Toyota.
This is coming from an owner of 87 CRX, 92 Civic EX, 79 XR250, Honda Lawnmower and snowblower.
I am highly disappointed all the way around.

As a was driving home from work, the engine felt like it was going to stall. Finally it did at a stop light in busy rush hour traffic. I was able to re-start the car in neutral, but it stalled a few more times on the way home. I took the car to the dealer and they said it needed a new transmission to the tune of $3900! I wasn't that confident in their appraisal since they are probably more interested in selling new cars, so I brought it to an independent mechanic for a 2nd opinion. They confirmed the diagnosis and said most places do not rebuild Honda transmissions, and they would have to order a new one. Their estimate was around $3500.
I am working with Honda to see if they will cover all or most of the repair. If they don't I guarantee I won't be buying any more Hondas!

2005 Accord EX-L V6 - Transmission first failed in 2007 w/ only 18,000 miles, warranty covered a new transmission. Aug, 2011 w/ only 57,000 miles transmission failed again but this time no warranty. I called Honda and said it would cost over $4,000. I went to AAmco, I was told a minimum of $2,300, in addition to that I needed to rent a car for a week ($350). Needless to say this was an unexpected and huge expense, which I was extremely upset about. My spouse decided to call Geico to see if there was anything they could do, lucky for us when we bought the car we added to our insurance policy a major mechanical breakdown clause which essentially protected our car from major breakdown for up to 7 years or 70,000 miles whichever came first. My final bill from AAmco was $3,100 but I only had to pay a deductible of $250 plus car rental of $350. Geico covered the rest. I WILL NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN!!!

In 2007 the transmission was replaced by Honda Service (Honda of Nanuet, NY) and we were given a 3 years warranty on the new transmission. Last week the transmission that was put in died as well. We called Honda and were basically told "Tough luck!". Our next attempt was to see if we can trade it in but were told "No way! The car doesn't run, it is worth nothing to us!" We still have one more payment to make on the car and now, over $30,000 later, the car is junk because we cannot afford to rebuild it. How can that be???

ALL cars in our family are Hondas - 2005 Accord EX V6, 2002 CR-V, and 2001 Accord EX. You used to buy a Honda because if you did basic preventive maintenance they just ran. Not anymore. The transmission of my 2005 Accord failed at 86k. It was never smooth from day 1, but lately there has been a whining sound from the transmission pump and the car took its sweet time engaging from neutral into drive (neutral to reverse is OK). The repair shop told me that it will cost up to $3500 to replace or rebuild the transmission. They did state that this is a problem they see A LOT with 2005 Accord's. Unbelievable! I have had other problems with the other Hondas, usually around the $1000 mark to repair. I found them annoying and was wondering if Honda quality is not what it used to be. The next car in my family will definitely NOT be a Honda.

I'm driving to New York on the Verazano bridge and all a sudden my car starts popping in and out of gear. It felt like it was in neutral and then popped back into drive, etc. MY car would rev up but it wasn't going anywhere. It finally stopped moving on the bridge and had to get it towed all the way back to New Jersey. Honda said it was the transmission. I am thinking to myself this a fairly new car, I only had it for a year, why is my transmission failing? I googled recalls for Honda Accords, long behold there was a recall placed August 27th 2011 for Honda Accords 2005-2010 for the transmission. Everything they described about what the car would be doing is exactly what happened with mine; the abnormal noises, shifting in and out of gear, etc. I called Honda, the women automatically said my car wasn't apart of the recall without giving her the VIN number. We called back again and another person pretended to not know what we were talking about. Either Honda is going to fix my car or their will be a whole bunch of news cameras will be at their door. Over a million cars affected from this recall and you mean to tell me my car isn't one? That's BS. Just the thought that if I would got into an accident on that bridge, thank God I didn't.

My Honda is a total failure. It totally let me down. All of a sudden it made a loud banging noise. It also rolled backwards after putting it in park. The airbag light came on earlier. Anyway i looked up recalls and called and was given a case number for review. I was told by the dealer that it was not under recall. Only 4 cylinder honda's. That is crazy. My car is doing the same thing. The transmission is completely gone. I also noticed a lot of Honda's have had the same problems since 2001. I saw 13 recalls on different parts on Honda's. From now own. I will only buy a USA made car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I PLAN TO PUT IT ON THE NEWS AND CONTACT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased my 6th Honda from Kay Honda, Eatontown, NJ in January 2005. I currently have approximately 85,000 miles. In or about October or November 2010, I am driving along and suddenly the vehicle comes to a roll then a dead stop on a main road. The steering locked up immediately. The car was still on however it wouldn't move. I waited then tried again. Complete shut down again.
I had to call Triple A to tow the vehicle to DCH Academy Honda in Oldbridge, NJ. My brother is the parts manager there, I figured it was my best option to have the car towed there so that it would get the attention it needed. Well it is September 2011 and my car is still there. Why you may ask? Because I could not afford to replace the F@#$ing transmission. A friend of mine told me there were problems with the Honda transmissions and that I should research it on the Internet.
HOLY CR@#!!!!!!!!! I refuse to pay for the replacement of the transmission. I am planning to call Honda Corporation and make a formal complaint. I am extremely disappointed with DCH Academy Honda's Service department and their handling or their lack with informing me of the issue. My situation with the transmission is obviously NOT an isolated incident and Honda needs to step-up to the plate. I have been forced to take my mother's car from her to get around in and that is a 1991 Honda CIVIC with 128,000 miles and no major problems yet knock on wood.
Honda's a great cars but this issue I having with the 2005 Accord is just plain unacceptable. Anyone out there that has had help from the Honda Corporation? Please respond.
Thank You

The Transmission of my Honda Accord 3L V6 failed me while at work. The car was not able to move. After stopping for a short time say 5-10 minutes, I could continue but the problem of the car ceasing to go forward developed again. I am not able to drive the car for any period of time.
I was made aware that it is well known that the transmission in the 2005 Honda Accord 3L V6 too small for the corresponding 3L V6 engine and that Honda is aware of this.
Please I would like to be compensated by having the correct transmission replacing this one which is currently attached to the engine and now being reoprted as non-functional.

On Tuesday my car starting making strange noises and bucking occasionally when I came to a stop. I thought it seemed a little strange but didn't think too much of it, maybe bad gas. On Wednesday it seemed a little bit more noticeable and more frequent, I planned on taking it in on Saturday when I had time to have it looked at.Thursday on my ride to work at a stop light it completely stalled. It started back up fine but as soon as I shifted it into gear it stalled. I repeated this a few times and finally I was able to get it to move. I pulled into the closest parking lot because I was afraid to drive any further. Once I stopped in the lot it stalled again. I started it about 10 times and every time I shifted into any gear (1,2,3,D,R) it stalled. I had it towed to the shop and they said the transmission needs to be replaced. I am furious I still owe $7,000 on my loan and it looks like it is going to cost me $3,500 to fix. I got a Honda because I thought they were supposed to be reliable. For a transmission to go with under 100k is insane to me. I am going to call Honda on Monday to see if they will do anything to help with the cost.
Update from Jul 15, 2011: I contacted Honda Corporate and they were suprisingly very helpful and apologetic. I can't say the same about the local Honda dealership who tried to talk me into just trading my car in for a car on their lot by telling me my motor was probably bad too, which is not true at all. The estimate for the repairs is $3,400 and Honda offered to pay $1,700 (50%). I tried to get them to pay more but they explained that they look at how far out of warranty the car is (which I am 3 years and 60,000 miles out of warranty). Which is understandable, so the dealership is fixing my car and I will "only" need to pay them $1,700 and the rest will be paid by Honda. I'm still a little in shock that my Honda Accord blew a transmission at 95,000 miles but atleast Honda was good enough to help out with the repairs I doubt any other companies would do the same.

bought a 2005 Honda Accord EXL V6 BRAND NEW knowing I could drive this car for many, many years (this is my 4th Honda by the way). In Oct 2009 I needed brakes and an 02 censor-OK normal I suppose. Sept 2010 another 02 censor, whatever had a friend put it in-cheap fix. Then Oct. 2010 the power steering pump AND the CD player went bad, EH OK move on. In April 2011 the starter- yeah OK, guess it's about time...1 week later the battery is dead-RATS! Another week (seriously, 1 week) and guess what, the valve gasket and 2 valve covers blew, OMG-this IS really happening?!! On to May 2011, the power steering high pressure hose and bracket AND 2 engine mounts, WHAT REALLY?! OH, Also in May the map light shorted out, Honda wants 140 to fix? crap. And then onto June 2011... I need a transmission, WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!! This is a honda problem and they need to "HONDA UP" and fix at least the transmission. I AM IN COMPLETE AND UTTER SHOCK!!! This car has been lady driven, carport kept and serviced every 3,500 miles. I am about to have the Transmission rebuilt for 2,500 because I have no other choice! When I bought this car, the salesperson said to me, this engine will last you 300k miles, well maybe the engine will but everything else on the car has broken!!! :(((((( Honda just ain't what it used to be, that's for sure!!! would love to be included in a class action suit over the transmission, please contact me if you hear of one!!!

Complete automatic transmission failure on the freeway at about 65 MPH. Just a few not very strong words convinced Honda to reduce cost of replacement to $1800 from $4400. They said there have been just a few complaints about this problem but my study of the internet indicates otherwise. If YOU have had this problem let HONDA know you are as mad as h*** and you are not going to take it anymore. Honda seems to have had problems with their transmissions for the past 10 years. I was only 1000 miles above the warranty mileage allowance when this problem started and all Honda can afford to give me was a 50% discount on the cost of replacing the transmission, -a hell-of-a-note for a car that has a reputation for being trouble free. Irate and outraged is how I feel about the transmission failure of our 2005 Honda Accord. Transmission failure at 66k miles is utterly unbelievable. This is a Honda after-all, and when we purchased it car issues seemed so distant and something that only happened to Ford owners.
The shop told us the cost to replace the transmission would be in the range of $5,000. We contacted Honda and they've offered to foot some of the bill. However, it still doesn't seem right. We're a few thousand miles past the warranty and we purchased the Honda because of its reputation for reliability and dependability.
We have been scouring the internet for some answers and have come to realize that Honda has been having issues with transmissions since the early 2000's with a recall in 2004. There is no doubt in my mind that my transmission is a continuing problem that Honda refuses to acknowledge due to potential liability and damage to their reputation.
It seems they've learned nothing from the Toyota debacle. We were lucky that the transmission gave out in the city and not while traveling at 65 on the highway. Honda should own up to their transmission defects instead of continuing to sell a product they know is dangerous and hoping the warranty runs out before they have to foot the bill.
I will never purchase another Honda!

It's a 2005 Honda Accord with only 66k miles on it. The farthest thing from our minds was a transmission failure when we purchased it. Especially since Honda's are generally known for their reliability and dependability.
The transmission failed on my drive home from work. I am grateful that it did not occur on the highway as I am aware of many near misses and the potential for dangerous outcomes occurring from transmission failures at high speeds.
Honda has been experiencing transmission issues since the early 2000's. We were only made aware of their continuing issues along with their recall of 2004 Accords while trying to find answers online. There is no doubt in my mind that Honda is knowingly continuing to sell a defective product and hoping the warranties run out prior to any issues surfacing so they don't have to foot the bill. It looks like they have not learned a lesson from the Toyota debacle.
I will never purchase another Honda again!

I was totally shocked when I found out I had to replace the transmission on my 2005 Honda Accord with only 65K. I bought it because of Honda's great reputation and because the Civic weI bought new for my daughter in 97 got her through high school, college, and was still going when it was wrecked. The worst thing is, I had just paid off the loan on my Accord one month before my transmission went out. Repair costs will be $3700.00 when I reluctantly pick it up from the dealer tomorrow. I do get many compliments on my car and I always say, "its a great car" now I will say "don't buy one!" I think Honda is greatly under estimating the value of a satisfied customer and the ability of a dissatisfied customer to "spread the word."

Car died on the freeway. Transmission fluid leaking out. Had to be towed 15 miles to nearest dealer. While waiting for diagnostics, decided to research on the internet Honda Accord transmission problems. Found out several years 2000-2003 all were known transmission defects. Repair of transmission was going to cost $5800 by the dealer plus the cost of a car rental since it happened on a trip out of town. The Honda website suggested we ask for a Good Will adjustment. When I asked the service manager about this he stated he would have to contact Honda customer service. After several more minutes he came back and stated we would pay $1000 and Honda would pay the rest.
I still don't have the car back. We have to wait to locate a transmission.

I have heard a lot of complaints about the 2003 model of this car but now the same problem has happened to me on my 2005 honda accord ex v6. I was driving on the highway at 65mph when all of a sudden it slipped out of gear like i was in neutral...next thing I know it violently down shifts to 2nd gear almost causing me to be rear ended!!..thank god the person driving behind me was aware of who was driving infront of him or I would have been in a major car accident! from that point on the transmission never shifted right and the same thing happened to me when taking the car to honda the next day! This is not the first time I have had to deal with honda and faulty transmissions!!! Its become quite a joke! I had a transmission failure on my 2002 honda accord v6 a few years ago and the car had only 75k on it. Honda paid half...but i still had to come out of pocket $2000! Now honda has told me the transmission on my 2005 is dead at 95k and the cost to replace is over $4000!!! You would think with all the problems they have had with transmissions in the past they would have fixed the problem but its clear they have not!! they only seem to want to cover up the problem as long as they can so they don't have to be responsible for the trash they are selling! It is clear that they have not fixed the problem on the 2003 or any of the other models...if it was fixed we all wouldn't be having the same EXACT problem!! The dealer tried to put the blame on me by saying I didn't service the car right!?!?! is that a joke? if you open the car manual it says...."under normal driving conditions change trans oil at 120k or 6 years" I commute to queens ny to westchester everyday....i don't tow anything...i don't drive up and down hills...i don't sit in stop and go traffic...i drive in normal conditions!! to think that the transmission would again fail is a joke and honda needs to start stepping up and taking responsibility for their crappy transmissions...and in my view its only getting worst and more dangerous!! to think that the car would downshift like that on the freeway should be a crime and a recall should be put into effect for these transmissions!!
I hope more people that are having the same problem step up and let their voice be heard!!! if honda doesn't
step up and do something to help me out with this problem i will make it my lifes work to get the message out to as many people as i can...and with the use of the internet ie..facebook..websites like this i am sure to be heard by MANY!!

My car has 60800 miles on it and is well maintained. But in the past 2 weeks at around 60700 miles, it started stalling intermittently. Took it to the dealer they could reproduce the problem only once so they activated the on-board computer. Within 2 days the stalling was more frequent and eventually it completely stalled. Towed it to the dealer and they said the transmission needs to be replaced and would cost me $3400. I was shocked to say the least. I'm going to call up Honda and see what they have to say about this problem. It's really strange that transmission failures occur for Honda at so low a mileage. I'm definitely not buying a Honda ever and will spread the word about this.
Update from Nov 15, 2010: Called up Honda and they opened up a case for me for goodwill repair. The came back after a few days with an offer to pay 50% of the repair cost ($1700). I agreed. I have to say I was kind of pleasantly surprised. They have a warranty of 36K miles/3 yrs for the transmission. Let's see.

My car has been doing this jerking thing when I drive. I took the car to Crown Honda of Southpoint in Durham NC to have it checked. To my suprise I get a call that states my transmission is failing and I need to replace it and the torque converter. When my husband and I went in to talk to the repair person at the dealership we were told that the torque converter needed to be replace and in the Honda that meant the entire transmission needed to be replaced.
I purchased a Honda because I thought they were good reliable cars. I will be trading my car for a Ford and will never buy auto's made by the people to make the Honda. After researching the situation it has come to my attention that all of the Honda's have been having the same problem. You would think that Honda Corp would have recalled the issues with this problem and fixed them. They know damm well that the transmissions they made are a piece of junk. I have advised everyone that I can against buying a Honda or an Acura.

After inspecting it, the dealership informed me my transmission was leaking and after a dye test it was determined I needed a new transmission. This is another instance of a very meticulous car owner changing the oil every 3,000 miles and all the mileage interval services. My 5 year warranty ended last month. Thank goodness I took out the 2 year extended warranty which covered the replacement of the new transmission.

I bought this brand new car in 2005 and good maintance on it. For about a month, my car had been acting funny when I came to a stop, periodically. Maybe once a week or so. By acting funny, I mean it did not seem to downshift immediately when I came to a stop, sometimes acting like someone bumped the car from behind barely. Last saturday, around 9 pm right at the stop sign, the transmission locked up and I could not reverse or downshifted. I had to pull the car to the road side. It was towed to the dealer where I purchased it next morning that was sunday and I had to pay $181 for towing. Monday, the dealer ship service called me and said transmission failure and I have to pay $4200 to replace it. I told them how can I bought the brand new car and it was only 67k miles, the transmission failure and I have to pay $4200.....after that they did contact to Honda's Corporate and told me that I have to pay $750 and they will pay the rest. I have no choise so I let them fixed my car. But I would like to say is that why the car's transmisson failth at 67k miles so who will buy the new Honda with the problem like this. It costed me a nightmare to think about that night and I think the Honda's corporate should resposible this problem and I dont have to pay $750 plus $181 towed car only 67k miles driving.

I'm told the transmission needs rebuilding. I see all kinds of Honda owners with the 2001 to 2002 Class action and also the 2003 issues.
I'm floored that the honda I bought to be reliable and low cost of maintenance turns out to be the first car I've ever had to have transmission work done on.

Bought this car lightly used from the dealer at which it was originally sold and always taken to for maintenance. Car had 18,000 miles when I bought it in early 2008 and was in great condition. Now with 49K miles on it and still in otherwise great condition the tranny dies! I started noticing so lag in shifting a low speeds and just taking it from reverse to drive. Also noticed when passing some at about 70 mph when it downshifted it spun the tires for a second. I thought that was odd and would take in as usual at the next service at the dealership and see if they would check it out. Three days after I first noticed this, driving home and took a short cut through "dump road" (a place where it is not entirely uncommon to find a body) and got on the gas a little and made to about 50 when I started slipping gears. It will drive in first, second, and reverse for anywhere from 20 to 100ft before completely dying now. I know one thing for sure... That extended warranty just paid for itself.

Automatic transmission failed without warning getting off freeway today. This vehicle has been properly maintained and I've never missed an oil change, timing belt, etc. I can't believe the transmission would just fail like that! I've never had any problems with this car, no leaks, no other repairs needed and then this. This leads me to believe there is some sort of defect with this auto.

I bought Honda because of quality brand but I guess I was wrong. Blowing up transmission at 45K is unacceptable. Dealer quoted $4100. I have to shop around to see if I can get a rebuilt one cheaper.
This is going to be my last Honda ever. Let me know if anybody is doing a class action since I am seeing lot of transmission failures on Hondas starting from 2000s.

I have babied this car for 4 years. Got the oil changed at every service interval and made sure everything was done and kept great records. I do not drive very much so have less than 31K on this baby. I bought a new truck and gave this car to my daughter because I was confident that it was going to be a safe and reliable car for her. She called me from the college parking lot crying that the car wouldn't move and sure enough, drive/reverse....nothing. Took it to my personal mechanic who pronounced the transmission 'dead'. (I won't take it to Honda because they keep trying to rip me off every time I go there). He will replace it with a rebuilt unit with a 3 year guarantee. Will cost me $2800 but that's better than $3900 from Honda. I'm going to call Honda and scream at them anyway because I put my trust in them. No more! Stay away from Honda, try Toyota instead.

I have a 2005 Honda accord, purchased brand new that is giving me transmission problems. I noticed the problem when it started jerking. At first I thought it was bad gas or something. Then it kept doing it, but got worse. By the third day, it would completely stall while driving. Needless to say the problem got worse later on that day, and the car would be in drive or reverse and not do anything. I took it a couple of places and was told that it's the transmission solenoid, that it's stuck in off when it's supposed to be on. I don't know how this happened. I was told by one person that it's something simple, another person that the entire transmission needs to be replaced, so I"m going to get another opinion. Needless to say, I had a 92 accord that had about 300k and never had this problem. I always thought hondas were good cars, but I'm now learning that a lot of people are having the same problem. I just hope it doesn't cost thousands of dollars to fix, because the car isn't even paid for yet. Does anyone know if American Honda will help with repair costs and tag it on to the car loan?

Check Engine Light came on, transmission began to slip.
Took to Autozone, trouble code was for failed torque converter. Within 15 miles, totally failed transmission, towed to Honda Dealership in Irving on Saturday. They are waiting for Monday to get quote on replacement transmission.

This problem occured with no warning at all. I pulled up to the light, the car started spitting and felt like it was going to turn off. I made it home, however when I pressed on the gas the car sputtered and almost turned off. When I pulled into my space and let up off the brake the car made a really bad noise, sounded like it was coming from the right side. I thought it may be an issue with the throttle, but once honda got it i received the bad news. I'm really upset about this, because Honda is known for having their transmissions last at least 100K....It's really caused a hardship for me, since I just had my car serviced with Honda less than 2 months ago at the Honda dealership. The worst part of the is that Honda can't even tell me exactly what went wrong with the tranmission. They call it an Internal failure and said for me to get a report on what went wrong, they would have to charge me several hundred additional dollars for that. I thought at every maintenance appointment they were suppose to run a diagnostic on your car inlcuding the transmission.

I was on the interstate and my car just revved up in the engine and the rpm's went all the way in the red. It was frighting and terrible dangerous considering I was in 70 mile an hour traffic. I called Honda Care to transport to Honda dealer and was told I need a whole new transmission. This is day two and they are still waiting on the transmission from Dallas to arrive. I have an extended warranty due to the grace of God. Times are tough in life and Honda should really try to get it together, I could have lost my life considering the circumstances. May God protect all of us that drive these Hondas that are defective.

Transmission went at 48,750 miles. It felt a little funny one day in the cold weather, the next day my wife was rear-ended by a tractor trailer. Fortunately, the Honda was still putting at 25Mph (shoulda been 40Mph) and it wound up being a tap rather than a total. She got it home with the blinkers on...and that was all she wrote. Started right up, shifter moved freely, but no reverse or drive...like having neutral on all gears. Honda was generous to offer 10% of a new way-overpriced transmission. I of course declined.
The manager felt bad for me and said he would offer me a phenomenal trade-in deal. HE offered $6500. This car would sell on their lot for over 15K. Great deal. No more hondas for me. Apparently there is a pump that goes bad that causes this problem. I had all my routine maintenance, too.

Accord EX V6
Honda Accord 2005 V6 under 25,000 miles suddenly started having problems with the automatic transmission which finally failed on May 2011 while driving on the highway. A complete automatic transmission overhaul and torque converter change were performed at a Honda dealer at a cost of over $2600. New transmission felt great during the first 3 months (even though either the transmission or the torque converter started leaking oil and I had to take it to the dealer for repair) but recently I have notice abrupt delays (slow down) while shifting gears, like its is pulling you back and strange kicks while shifting. Car accelerates slower as well and does not react as quickly or smoothly as new. I took the car to the same Honda dealer and they say nothing is wrong with the transmission.
