Honda CR-V 1999 doesn't shift into 2 gear or 3rd like it use to. Serpentine belts go out quick. The A/C isn't cool or cool enough and it's been checked. The 'd' drive symbol doesn't appear anymore like a fuse blew out or something. At times it'll appear as though my E brake is on when it's not. When the A/C is on, the vehicle rattles and or jumps like it wants to shut off. I believe it's a wiring issue as well.

April 5, 2003 it was about 9:00 pm. I had just paid my toll on the New Jersey side of the river. I was traveling westbound on the ben franklin bridge towards philadelphia. I was traveling about 35 mph and was in the right-hand lane in order to take the exit off to the right to get onto South I-95. This exit ramp is at the bottom of the bridge on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware river. As I was nearing the bottom of the bridge, my 1999 Honda CRV suddenly accelerated with such high rpms that it surged forward at an extremely rapid rate. It took off on its own so fast that not even the brakes would or could slow it down. I actively applied my brakes but to my horror, my brakes would not work and could not slow down the car. The car kept accelerating uncontrollably. I even pulled up on my emergency brake and tried to maneuver my car as I was traveling at a rapid pace through the traffic and could not stop my car until it crashed into another. This horrific accident totaled my car and resulted in the death of a woman in another car. My injuries kept me in the hospital for a week. A taxi driver had some injuries. He was treated and released. The Honda CRV was totalled and the car is being kept in storage, pending further investigation.

I was driving on a dual highway at approx 55 mph, I took my foot off the accelerator coming into a reduced speed area and the car continued to accelerate at a fast pace and high speed. I pulled into the center lane and applied brakes, the engine continued to run at full speed. I was able to reduce the speed to approx 45 mph and jammed the vehicle into park. The engine continued to roar. I did not turn the vehicle off until assistance arrived. I knew no one would beleive me. I had the car towed to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle. The dealer maintenance and sales personnel wittinessed the starting of the vehicle and the engine again continuing to roar at aroung 8,000 rpms immediately once the key was turned. I contacted Honda american and was told they had no responsibility due to the vehicle being out of warranty. My car has been inspected by the dealer maintenance personnel and they have found no mechanical reason for this incident. The car stopped roaring as fast as it started. No one wants to touch my car, the dealer does not even want as a trade in due to thier fear. I am concerned this is a safety issue and would like to pursue the matter. Hondas technical personnal still have not identified a reason for this problem.
