2001 CRV purchased new from dealer May 2001. We were so excited. It's been a great running car. But about 2 years ago, started noticing some rust bottom of one door but didn't think too much of it. Had Honda service look at last September (2008) after it had worsened. They said it looked as if door might have been painted. We never had work done on rear of car! Front end repair due to deer accident a year ago but that was it. Nothing on rear portion! So I was in a room of customers and suggested that could this have been re-paint job of a 'boo boo' before we took ownership of what we thought was a new car? You could have heard a pin drop. I have since heard that this could have been untreated metal - galvanizing? Or whatever that is called. They suggested I write to Honda. Now it's slightly less than 8 years old and rusted all over back (one) door and rear quarter starting. Took to our body guy and he said it looks as if the culprit is where door is seamed at bottom and it is rusting from inside out. He gets work from Honda so not saying too much. What to do? We are not wealthy. We bought our Honda because we drive our cars for 16 years! Don't laugh...we really do. We bought Honda because we believed them to be the best. Our CRV does run great... But it won't last another 2 years with this rust. IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING RUST PROBLEM? I have not seen this mentioned. I smell a rat.
