The driver side master window switch failed causing the part to get very hot, melt, and emit smoke from the switch. This could have very easily started a large fire in the vehicle. Once the switch is melted, it shorts out the circuit causing the fuses to pop and the window will no longer operate. I contacted a Honda dealership and discovered the same part # used in the 2006 model is recalled for this very same reason. I believe this affects more parts than are covered by the recall as a quick look on the web uncovered several more cases for 2005 models.

Regarding 2006 Honda CRV. Problem - drivers side window auto function not working properly. Problem began prior to the vehicle reaching 30,000 miles. Window stops going up as if it hit an obstruction. Sometimes will not go down at all. Dealer wouldn't identify the problem for another 10,000 miles, but it was determined that the window regulator had too much play in it. Honda also supposedly issued a bulletin to its dealers regarding problems resulting from water and debris getting into the window mechanisms.
