Multiple times I have gone to pull out onto a road and the car has hesitated and actually stalled a few times almost causing me to be hit. Starting in 2021. Around 70,000 miles the Check Engine light came on saying Emission Control problem and went off. Around this time it all began. At 80,000 miles it would cycle on and off intermittently "check engine" and they told me it was the Catalytic Convertor which i replaced at over $2,000 dollars in cost.. I still have the issue. Honda is hiding a problem and there are articles saying its the O2 and MAF sensors. causing these issues and the software also. Talking to a local repair shop he said I was the third Honda CRV he has seen this month. Hesitation, Stalling, Clogged Catalytic Converters??, Acceleration not happening when you step on the gas pedal. I am not alone with this problem.

Upon moving into a parking spot, I slowed down, and suddenly the car surged unbelievably fast. I ran into a brick wall about 4 or 5 feet in front of the car. No other people were around, but certainly, I was at risk. This problem has happened to me in this 2016 CRV, and in another CRV, 2015. Twice in the 2015. The dealer has not reproduced the situation. It is intermittent. This first CRV happened around 15000 or 16000 miles. This car has around 44000 -45000 miles on it. Of course, the dealership says I had my foot on the gas. I DID NOT! Either of the 3 TIMES. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police insurance reps, etc. No one is interested in doing do. Certainly not Honda. I have found numerous examples on the internet of people experiencing the exact same thing. They describe exactly what happened to me. There is no warning whatsoever. I know Honda will do nothing, until it becomes impossible for Honda to ignore. In the meantime, I wonder how many people will have to be injured or worse. I am asking nothing from Honda. That is hopeless. I am going to junk the car. I cannot in good conscience sell it. I did sell the 20015 back to Honda, as they "assured" me it would be checked, and this was just an anomaly.

I believe a sudden unintended acceleration issue caused an accident with my 2016 Honda CR-V as I was driving to work on December 12, 2019. At that time, I had been driving for over 36 years both on maui and as an air force officer in the conus. In all that time, I had never driven recklessly or even sped as is evidenced by my driving record. That morning, my vehicle had reportedly been driving at a high rate of speed and ended up flipping over several times leading to my hospitalization and surgery for spinal Fusion. Unfortunately, due to the resulting concussion, I can't remember anything from the morning of the incident until waking up in the icu after surgery, not even driving to work. Knowing that I would never purposely speed, I hired someone to download the black box data. To my shock, it showed constant acceleration, no steering inputs, and no braking inputs for at least five seconds. The only reason I've decided to put this out there now is due to the parallels I've read about with tiger woods' recent accident. I don't believe anyone who has driven for decades would ever mistake the accelerator for the brake pedal. Moreover, if they did, their instinct would be to quickly release the accelerator then brake, definitely not to continue to floor it for several seconds. I'm not expecting to get anything personally out of this complaint. My main hope is that investigation will be done to prevent further injuries and deaths. Please investigate to see if many other black box reports from similar accidents show accelerator floored with no braking or steering inputs for several seconds. Perhaps there is some combination of inputs causing wrong signals to be sent to the electronic control module. I believe the reason there aren't many more reports of this is due to the unfortunate fact that in most cases, the driver ends up either dead or having a concussion.

12/1/2017 car was parked on the street inside a neighborhood in Plymouth, Michigan. At about 6:30am on Saturday 12/2/2017, here are the things I did in order: 1.I started the car by pushing brake pedal by right foot and start button by one finger. 2.put control on 'd' drive position. 3.pushed gas pedal by foot, car moved and jumped very fast. 4.pushed brake, but car didn't stop and hit someone's garage door. 5.put control on 'P' park position, car was stopped. 6.front of the car was damage and leaked fluid. 7.no air bags were open. 8.my forehead was hurting. 9.car was towed to a collision shop to repair. 10.12/3/2017 called Honda recall line 888-234-2138, but Honda said there are no recalls for my car. So Honda recorded my accident information and said someone would call me back.

CR-V

  • 75 miles
After buying a new 2016 Honda CR-V last year, and then driving it for the first 75 miles at highway speeds, the engine, transmission, or onboard computer started failing to allow this vehicle to always accelerate smoothly and safely from a complete stop, or from slow-rolling speeds. When trying to accelerate in stop-and-go traffic, or when trying to accelerate to pullout into heavy and fast moving traffic after coming to a complete stop at a busy intersection, or when trying to accelerate to pullout into heavy and super fast moving expressway traffic after decelerating on an expressway entrance ramp, this vehicle will hesitate and almost stall-out when the accelerator pedal is initially pushed I.e., feels like a dead accelerator pedal, ... and then, when the accelerator pedal is pushed harder, the vehicle will lunge forward at frightening, dangerous, and not always controllable speeds which could cause a deadly head-on, side-impact, or rear-end collision. Another seriously dangerous situation is when this vehicle almost stalls-out and suddenly slows down, the brake lights do not come on to warn other drivers behind this vehicle, because the driver of this vehicle is not pushing on the brake pedal to cause the brake lights to come on. My wife became so seriously concerned about this vehicle, until she has been too afraid to drive it, and now she has become concerned about even riding in this vehicle with me driving. This is not just a problem that we alone are experiencing. There are negative comments all over the internet about this Honda CR-V problem, and everyone we talk to who owns a 2015 or 2016 Honda CR-V say they have the same problem and that Honda dealers do not have a fix for it. The Honda motor company needs to be held accountable and required to recall and fix all of these Cr-vs to make them safe, or reimburse owners for the full purchase price.

My feet get tangled between the brake and gas. I had unintended acceleration due to this problem. The car idle is set at 5mph once you take your foot off the brake the car assumes you are going forward and does seek to go 5 mph no matter your intentions. The brake and the gas are only 2.5 inches apart. When trying to brake my foot was pinned under the brake pedal and causing the car to go 5 miles per hour. I have avoided any number of untended crashes due to this problem.

At the end of a private roadway, I stepped on the brake in order to switch to reverse and back up into a parking area. When I put my foot on the brake, the vehicle accelerated and would not stop. It hit a garage door, and the rear of two vehicles before finally coming to a stop. The entire time, my foot was on the brake and was on the brake when it finally stopped. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a local Honda dealer to evaluate the cause of brake failure. Sealer stated they were unable to replicate the problem and the brakes checked out ok....updated 02/22/17
