CarComplaints.com Notes: Yes, the Honda Civic receives a lot of complaints because so many were sold. And sure, car parts only last so long and things eventually break. But it's never good to see this many transmission complaints, especially when the average mileage at failure is just north of 100,000 miles.

Especially when you consider that it's predecessor also has a nasty history with transmission complaints.

After having problems on road in rush hour traffic, car just stopped, engine fine, car will not move, pushed out of traffic around corner. Wait for son to get me. Try to start car. Won't start. Later try to start car, it starts so I go to drive it home. Then car stopps again in mid traffic. engine fine car won't move. Get pushed around the corner again and park it. Have it towed to shop. They do investigation on it. Say I need a new transmission. Very expensive. Is car worth it. They put new transmission in..drive it so say everything is fine. Something is still wrong. Then they say it may need a computer. Then they put one in. Very expensive for that too. Have to rent a car for over a month. I am on fixed income and retired. Now I have to go to the shop on Friday, January 27th to get car and sign papers to make payments. Plus have to borrow $1,000.00 from my son for down plus give them title to my car till I get bill paid off. Is car worth it?????
