I drive a 2009 Honda Civic LX 5 speed automatic transmission two problems need to be addressed and the dealership says they are completely normal, and I know they are not normal. Problem 1: transmission: When coming to a stop, usually under 10mph the transmission shifts very hard into first gear. So hard that it shifts hard and I have my foot on the brake pedal the car wants to launch me a little further.twice now I have almost hit somebody because when it shifts hard into first it wants to keep going, I have to sometimes pull emergency brake to make sure I don't hit anybody. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it scares me. Second problem: Brakes: The brakes in this car are horrible even with my foot completely down the car still has a hard time slowing down and again I seem to have to rely on the emergency brake to help me stop. I have a 4 year old son I bought this car because it was rated safe, but I'm terrified to take him anywhere because I don't know if I can stop or not. I talk to the dealership and they say both problems are completely normal. Its brand new with only 5500 miles on it so I know this isn't normal.

I just bought this new Honda Civic 2009 LX sedan, and after driving for few weeks, I started to hear some kind of noise in the car. Its coming from the right passenger side. And after I took it to the shop, they told me, it might be the change that I have in the car, so I took out the change and started drive again, but it didn't work, I still hear the noise. I didn't have time to go back and ask them to fix it again. The other problem is the transmission, one night when I try to park the car, the car started to shaking when I pull it to the reverse mode, then I tried few more times, its the same with D mode. I was mad and was about to drive it to the dealer, but the next day when I ready to drive it, the shaking was gone. When I took them to the shop, the dealer inspect it and says there is no problem, they want me to drop the car there for two days, so they can go into deeper inspect, I refused, because I didn't have time and I needed the car for work.

My 2009 Honda Civic hybrid on one occasion when starting out in the morning accelerated faster than I wanted to go, to about 25-30 instead of 15 mph in our condo area. It was very brief, and has never been repeated. After the Toyota problems recently, I went to my Honda service center, and they assured me that there are no problems with Honda acceleration. Thank you.

2008 Civic hybrid - 19,112 miles - when accelerating through an intersection from a stop, I experienced a temporary transmission failure causing me to lose forward momentum. Moments later the transmission kicked in and I was able to pull out of the intersection. Luckily, no cross-traffic was coming at the time and no accident resulted. I immediately brought the car in for servicing and first Texas Honda updated the cvt (transmission type) software. Evidently a service bulletin (sb 08-014) was issued for this concern on March 1, 2008. The service bulletin stated that the transmission could experience problems similar to the one I had. I believe this model car should be recalled. Honda's service bulletin was not effective in addressing this issue as it created a very dangerous situation. Had cross traffic been present when my transmission failed a serious accident could have happened.
