The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the contact became distracted and crashed into a curb. As a result, the seat belt failed to retract and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact encountered the steering wheel and the air bag warning message and air bag off warning lights illuminated. A police report was filed and the contact sustained a bruised chest, which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 18,500.
