Shortly after I leased a 2013 Fit, I started noticing that my upper back hurt all the time, which isn't surprising, since Honda didn't see fit to accommodate drivers who don't slouch!

First of all, the seat doesn't actually lock all the way upright, so your hips are still jammed forward and your lower back is under a lot of pressure. The head restraint is at a ridiculous forward-tilted angle that pushes your neck forward, so you constantly feel like you're looking out from under your eyebrows. At first, I had the steering wheel up higher so I could see my speedometer, but that resulted in me getting a sharp, stabbing pain in my left shoulder every time I drove, so I lowered it, and now I'm always dipping my head to see the speedometer.

As a 5'5" 130-lb woman, the smaller Hondas have traditionally been a great ergonomic fit for me.

This Honda Fit 2013 (base style) is extremely uncomfortable. The seat is so damaging to a person's natural posture. The head piece is quite projected forward so that your spine IS NOT aligned and causes me severe migraine headaches. In addition, the lumbar curve in the seat is too pronounced and also quite painful. Whenever I have to drive somewhere (even home from work) I dread it due to pain and discomfort. I have taken the head piece off and tried it, better but still uncomfortable and increased danger if hit by another car. When I spoke with a couple people at car shops, I was told that they are not able to take the seat out and replace it due to MN state legalities. I have only owned the car about 3 weeks, but am already car shopping because a car that causes significant pain issues is definitely NOT worth keeping! I have found a car seat that is helpful but costly and it helps much but I still have no head support that way and minimal leg space, so not an option. I would just love to get rid of my new car!!!!! I do NOT recommend that anyone purchase these and feel that a law should be passed against only looking at accident protection on the seats rather than increased bodily injury and pain on a regular basis.

I leased my 2013 Honda Fit Sport in September 2013, I drove it a few blocks and it seemed fine. Three days later I drove the car 100 miles and noticed my right side of my neck hurt as my neck tendons and muscles became stiff which got worse from there eventually feeling numbness in my drivers leg and I had to use cruse control to continue driving. I have seen multiple doctors thinking I had a serious illness but they found nothing other than neck strain and ordered physical therapy for 3 months which helped until I got back in the car and my neck got stiff again. BTW my Honda dealer was notified several times and they would not exchange the car. One year later I received a 1985 gifted truck from a relative and immediately noticed my neck felt better. I drove the little 1985 Nissan 720 truck which has a lumbar support for 2 months and felt no pain in my neck, back or legs which convinced me it was the Honda Fit seat as the problem.

Now with the snowy winter I went back to the Fit with it's front wheel drive and had to make it comfortable enough to keep me from having to go back to physical therapy. I noticed with the armrest down in the use position I got a sharp pain in the right side of my neck again. I immediately stopped using the armrest, I flipped the head restraint and added a head rest pad I also use a BackJoy seat pad that I used in an old car which had lost it's padding and I am able to drive the car with less pain but long drives are still horrible. I joined several groups and posted my neck pain and found some others with the same problem but not huge numbers. One member of the Fitfreak.com forums said he replaced the head restraint with a 2007 Honda Accord head restraint which has less of a forward tilt and his neck and back feels much better. I'll try that next.

I thought the 2015 Honda Fit was better with a new head restraint design but owners of the 2015 Fit told me it is no better and that they still haven’t installed a lumbar support. I did notice at the auto show last year the 2015 Fit removed the arm rest which is 3” too high and can only be used by a very tiny driver without causing neck strain.

I love the 2013 Fit for everything other than causing extreme neck pain and leg numbness. Still looking roe a replacement. Please reply with your comments.
