My car is a little over two years old. I've noticed the paint literally peeling off the car over the last year or so. I contacted the local dealer who, after looking at the car, stated to my husband "your wife must be tailgating trucks"; this problem is rocks hitting the car. They did not suggest anything else. I wrote a letter to the VP, Mr. Chenkin, in Markham, Ontario and addressed it Private & Confidential. A week later I was contacted by a "Case Worker". I asked if Mr. Chenkin read my letter and was told that "he was too busy". Prior to my writing this letter, I was asked by another worker to bring in the vehicle to have pictures taken of the paint job - keep in mind that this was not even suggested by the local dealer in the beginning. The picture of only the front was sent to the Case Worker. I offered to send in my own pictures of the whole vehicle, which I subsequently did. The Case Worker contacted me and agreed that my pictures showed a very poor paint job and they offered to get a quote from a local body shop for a paint job. Less than a week later, the Case Worker telephoned and did an "about face" job of saying that the quote was $4000 and yes, it did appear that the problem was rocks hitting the car and they would not be honoring a paint job. This whole business made me very angry. I have driven five cars over the course of 10 years and have NEVER had a problem with the paint peeling off. I will never buy another Honda. I am very disappointed in the service I received from the company and am insulted that the VP never took the time to read my letter. One of the mandates on the Honda company website relates to them "being accountable". They sure weren't in my case.
