The front seat belt retractor tensioners don't work consistently. Sometimes the belt is a little loose when fastened after moving around a bit, or doesn't release when trying to put the belt on. When exiting the vehicle the belt often doesn't retract the belt enough to keep the belt or buckle/latch from getting closed in the door. It has been an ongoing problem over the last few years and the dealer said they are not covered by any warranty. As the primary safety device in a vehicle, I believe they should be designed to work reliably for the life of the vehicle. Other vehicles of the same age don't have the same issues.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the seat belt located in the rear third row seat on the passenger side failed to release. The child had to be cut out of the seat belt. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be inspected. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while attempting to release a child from the rear passenger's side of the vehicle, the seat belt failed and the contact was unable to release the child from the seat. The contact had to severe the seat belt straps in order to release the child from the seat. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 70,000.
A six year old boy was playing with a seatbelt buckle. He stuck his finger in the square part of the buckle and the finger was stuck. Despite best efforts we were unable to get his finger out. The seatbelt had to be cut, the boy/buckle had to be taken to the er where bolt cutters were used to remove the buckle.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that all of the seat belts in the vehicle were too short and could not be fastened. He was also unable to lock the seatbelt which is a safety hazard and in violation of a New York state law. The failure mileage was 175. The current mileage was 6000.
