2007 Honda Ridgeline 125K The brake pedal goes to the floor when first applied, after a pump or two the pedal will come back up to a safe brake, however, that may be too late if you need to stop suddenly. This problem just happened a couple of days ago, the vehicle is presently in the garage getting checked over. the mechanic says there are no leaks in the system and that there is air in the system. He suggested that I call the dealer to check if the vehicle may have a recall on the brake components which could cause this unsafe issue.

Does anyone else out there have the same issue with brake pedal going to the floor on a Ridgeline??

Brake pedal is spongy and soft. When applying brakes, the pedal drops to a level close to the floor. Braking is minimal. When applying 2 pumps of the pedal while braking, the pedal becomes firm and high, as it should. Braking then appears fine. My brakes were bled two times. On both occasions, a considerable amount of air was removed from the lines. The problem quickly reappeared after bleeding the brakes. There were no brake fluid leaks anywhere, just air in the lines. Similar to the Odyssey and Element recall, the VSA modulator is allowing a small amount of air into the system on initial start.

I meticulously maintain my vehicles. The fluids are fresh, vehicle is always cleaned and waxed. I do not tow or take vehicle off road. I drive at speeds of 45 to 55 mph to my place of work on a daily basis . These issues are not from abuse but from some defects from the manufacturer. It is my hope that Honda will address this problem. The Honda Ridgleine and Odyssey share the same components so, it is fair to say the issues would be the same for bothe and therefore, a recall on the Ridgeline is justified.
