While traveling on the main roads the speedometer intermittently malfunctions then drops to zero, whereas I'm literally unable to determine my speed this seems to occur when the engine warms up and I been driving for better than a half hour.

Heater fan control knob overheats. When heater was in operation the heater control knob area above and below the cvery hot to the touch, heating up radio and other front dash components. Prior to this, instrument panel gauges stopped working completely for gas gauge and rpms, and stops working intermittently for speedometer (occurred around 100K miles).

Car will not start due to pass-lock or other malfunction component. Must try and fail and then wait for car to 're-set' each and every time the vehicle is tried to be started. After 10 minutes the car's engine completely kills, even if car is in motion. Reprogrammed keys and this only worked for a week. Now each and every door lock, back hatch lock, etc... has failed. The hatch is locked closed and the doors will only unlock or lock physically with your hand. The speedometer fails intermittently, along with other gauges working only sometimes.

In the midst of traveling on vacation, the speedometer and many of the other dash components just quit working. I had to rely solely on the portable gps to determine the speed that I was going. This is unsafe, and this is an issue that Hummer most certainly needs to correct.

Starting in October 2013 my speedometer has not functioned properly. It does not display the correct speed no matter how fast or slow you are going. It is either stuck at 0 or bottoms out over 120. I have no idea how fast I am driving unless I use my portable gps that shows speed. If it wasn't for my gps then I could get into an accident or get a ticket because I would not know how fast I am going. This is a manufacture defect as I am not the only Hummer owner with this issue. GM needs to fix this problem asap.

Driving home I began to smell and electrical burning smell. It began very quickly and came and went for about 2 miles. I pulled over and looked and could not see smoke or fire so I continued home. I drove the remaining 4 miles to my home and immediately got my husband to check as the cab had filled with the smell of an electrical fire. He located the area the smell was strongest and then watched as smoke came out. He unbolted the windshield washer fluid tank and the motor on bottom had actually burned, melted and was on the verge of causing some serious damage. The wipers were not being used and had not been touched. This vehicle is equipped with a heater for the fluid.

Jun 032011

H2

  • 89,000 miles
The speedometer and tachometer in my vehicle get stuck at any speed. Both meters either max out or drop to zero at numerous speeds. At slow speeds this problems is not a major issue, but at speeds above 45 mph the problem creates a dangerous situation. When pulling a trailer on the interstate at 70 mph the speedometer has dropped to zero. This creates a dangerous situation an inability to determine required speeds on different sections of the highway. A problem such as this one should only occur in a vehicle 25 or 30 years old and not 6 yrs old. It's clear that this is a factory defect and an alert should be issued for factory repair of this defect. Thank you

H2

  • 40,135 miles
The windshield wipers on the vehicle will at first work intermittently, going on and off at their own will. Then the windshield washer pump will turn on without warning, discharging all the washer fluid onto the windshield. The pump will continue to pump, even with the vehicle turned off. This can only be remedied with the disconnection of the battery. The wipers will then not work. This can occur at any moment, being very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2005 Hummer H2. The contact started the ignition, suddenly the rear windshield washer dispensed fluid without activation. The identical failure occurred with the front windshield wiper dispenser. The driver disconnected the fuse which resulted in the windshield wipers to not operate. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was unavailable.
