Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my SECOND Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am NOT fixing it. This is definitely a MANUFACTURING ERROR. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just BLOW UP. Anywhoooo, both cars just BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I repeat, BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "Check Engine" code being thrown for something small in the EVAP System. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right WHATSOEVER. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find NOTHING. This is a MAJOR ISSUE. There is absolutely zero irony in 2 cars, being 11 years apart, newer one being a 6 speed manual, having the SAME ISSUES EXACTLY. I was so happy to get a newer one, thinking, "oh there can't be possibly anything wrong with this model". WRONG. Absolutely, positively NO CAR should have to dump almost 5 quarts of oil in your car every 1000 miles or less. I constantly need to buy 1 or 2 quarts of oil BIWEEKLY for this 2015 Hyundai Accent. I can't just get rid of it, cars are expensive! This is absolutely the manufacturers problem. So I am going above their heads to get this taken care of. Monday, I want to try and call Hyundai, either the one near me, or some "hotline". This is unacceptable. My car will show that "low oil pressure" light and my heart just drops. "I just put oil in it!". I say to myself. Do not get me wrong. I love my car. I want my car taken care of. As, when I bought it, Blaise Alexander *apparently* didn't know about it. And they flat out lied about the check engine light! I've had numerous people look at it. They hardly have an answer. Its expensive and labor intensive. Please help me solve this problem. I am NOT the only one. -Morgan Buerk

The contact's niece owns a 2015 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was stalling. The vehicle also made loud unknown ticking sounds. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. An independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure to be engine related. The contact also stated an unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired; however, only the oil was changed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

My check engine light came on and stayed on, while the oil light appeared when my car was in idle and the engine began to knock. My AAA approved mechanic determined that the engine had a rod knock and the oil pressure at idle was only 3 psi. In other words, the the engine had completely failed and would have to be replaced. At 36,000 miles !I had the car towed to the local dealership where they confirmed this diagnosis and noted excessive metal debris in the oil and oil pan. My research revealed that an identical engine manufacturing defect had resulted in a class action suit against Hyundai which was settled in 2018. Hyundai was forced to replace the engines with new ones and cover all the owners costs for 3.9 million complainants. They also suffered a huge fine by the NHTSA. Because of Covid lockdowns, I had driven my car very little in 2020, otherwise this catastrophic failure would have occurred well within the the 5 year warranty period. As it was, the warranty had expired approximately 4 months earlier. The dealership contacted Hyundai N.A. and I was offered a "goodwill offer" which allowed me to pay over $3200 for a reconditioned engine with a warranty of only 1 year or 12,000 miles. It is my contention that no reputable car manufacturer would consider an engine life of only 36,000 miles to be acceptable. There is no question that the engine failure was, in any way, my fault and I have the maintenance records to prove it. My "goodwill offer" expired and I towed my car home. Of course, I was fortunate that my engine did not fail on the freeway, at high speed, or burst into flames as some Hyundai engines have been known to do.

1 year after purchasing car, I had a check engine sensor show up. I took it in and a diagnostic test showed an O2 sensor needed to be replaced. I replaced it and the part was defective, so I took it back and they replaced it again, after which it appeared to be fine. Then less than 6 months later, it began to run poorly and would not accelerate properly and seemed to not be getting fuel or oxygen or something. I took it in again and ended up having a catalytic converter put it for over $500. It ran fine for maybe a month after and the check engine light comes on again, it was running poorly again, losing power almost stalling out when pushing accelerator, it smelled like burnt oil. I had oil checked and changed 3 times during the time this all was happening too because of the smell of burning oil. Each time the oil change was done the service technician said it appeared not O have been changed because it was black and burnt and low, which is not possible, due to how frequently I was having it checked and changed not knowing what else to do!!! ultimately, on my way to my parents house the engine blew and smoke poured out from under it and it would not run again and it appeared to be burning. Upon inspection there was a hole melted into the engine block!!!! I am so disappointed in this vehicles performance. I had the vehicle from 2017 to March of 2020, still owe money on it and cannot drive it or afford to get it fixed. This engine failure was not my fault or due to my failure to properly car for the car. This is a Hyundai issue and it is time someone be made aware that this happened to what could have been a life long consumer, but never again!!!!

At first in the beginning my car does it once in a blue moon; however now everyday for the past two months my car would power down while being at a red light, stop sign, or in motion. When it powers down the engine and battery lights comes on. I would have to put the car in park and restart my car. It normally does it twice everyday. This is a safety hazard for myself and my baby. I'm scared that a car would come up behind and hit me while my baby is in the car. I fear our lives. When I took it to autozone for them to check and see why my check engine light was on the code was always catalytic converter. I went to go get that fix and my car is still having the same problem. Also, when my car is in motion the RPM doesn't move it stays at 0. also, the sensor for the passenger air bag isn't working. When somebody is sitting on the passenger side the airbag light is off, but when somebody isn't sitting there the airbag light is on. I haven't been in any accidents.

This computer malfunction has created dangerous situations. The car is unpredictable and hazardous to me and everyone in traffic. 6/8/15: When the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the battery light came on and the car could not move. After I turned off the engine and then turned it on again, the problem was gone and I could drive. 7/27/15: The problem recurred in a similar fashion, again after stopping at a traffic light. Only this time multiple lights came on the dash board, and the car could not move. After restarting I could keep driving. 9/24/15: While driving, multiple lights came on the dash board. A few moments later they went off, but the trip odometers A/B reset themselves to 0. 1/17/17: The same problem recurred. While driving, multiple lights came on the dash board. A few moments later they went off, but the trip odometers A/B reset themselves to 0. repairs to fix the problem: The cluster was replaced. The alternator was replaced. But the problem has been recurring again.

1) 6/8/15: When I stopped at a traffic light, the battery light came on and the car stalled. After I turned it off and turned it on again, the problem disappeared. 2) 7/27/15: A similar situation recurred, again after stopping at a traffic light. This time multiple warning lights came on, including engine oil pressure, parking brake/brake fluid and something else. The car stalled again. And again after turning it off and on the problem disappeared and then I could drive. 3) 9/24/15: I was driving at the speed of 60 mph. Suddenly multiple warning lights came on and I was afraid that the car can stall. Fortunately, it didn't happen. The lights stayed there for a few seconds and then disappeared. But another weird effect occurred: Trip a miles, which was about 50, reset and started from 0. most likely it is a computer malfunction. With this issue the car is unpredictable, unreliable and dangerous.
