Very dangerous: The vehicles shutsdown while driving without any warning. Dashboard blinks and engine shuts down causing lost of steering and power, slowing car in heavy traffic with vehicles behind. This has happened several times. Mechanics can't solve issues. On the internet, similar incidents have been reported by other Hyundai drivers. The crankshaft position sensor, idle control valves, and in/out output sensor transmission are reported as possible problems. In any event is a very dangerous condition. Problem should be studied and reported. It happens not only to this model, but on other Hyundai vehicles.

The contact owns 2002 Hyundai Elantra. The contact heard a clicking noise while driving approximately 60 mph. The vehicle stalled as transmission fluid spilled to the ground. The contact was able to coast unto the road shoulder and the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where it was diagnosed as a hole in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and would not assist with the repair due to the age of the vehicle. The failure and current mileage was 47,000.
