Upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel remains in upper position and interior position, similar to bus steering wheel. It cannot be moved with the electrical positioning button on the steering column and therefore is not safely drivable in this position. Major safety issue

Engine just shuts off while driving. It becomes difficult to steer and control. I was barely able to move to the side of the street and the car behind me almost ran into me because of my loss of power. There are no warning lights and the radio, etc. All stayed on during this event. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine.

Power steering has failed while driving multiple times during the past 18 months. I have brought the car in for service at my local dealership for the same problem multiple times. The power steering has been replaced twice and the rack and pinion has been replaced but the problem persists. A fault code generated from the power steering failure but Hyundai mechanics and Hyundai corporate do not recognize the code. Unbelievable!

While driving the 2009 Genesis the power stirring pump fails suddenly causing a catastrophic failure and you can stir the car! I've replaced the part twice before in around 90 days and it failed again in less than a year! the part cost &1100 and $2200 total price! this is a documented issue and a factory recall should be forced on Hyundai because it's a safety issue! now Hyundai is refusing to replace the parts and stated 'our parts dont go bad!'..... then the parts manager at pohanka Hyundai in capital heights md hung up the phone! very poor service and the Hyundai Genesis has systemic problems! even though I have not had this problem it's also a known defect... the ABS also has catastrophic failures and you have no brakes! I've checked and from 2009 until now (2018) these issues are in every Genesis manufactured and they won't properly engineer the parts? so Hyundai can build a very nice 'profile' car that we can't stir or stop! I'll never buy another and I'm a retired quality assurace engineer for nasa!

The power steering failed suddenly and catastrophically while driving in the parking lot. The steering wheel became hard to turn at any range of speed. The vehicle was examined by the dealership mechanic and I was informed the power steering pump had failed. After some brief research, it seems to be a known amd documented problem. I am awaiting repair(s) and extended warranty authorization as my car is no longer covered by the limited warranty and the power steering is not covered by the power train warranty. This is a costly repair that should be done at the manufacturer's cost under formal recall.

At approximately 7:50am on my way to work, heading westbound on rodeo rd and was going to make a left turn at cloverdale my car stalled. During the stall the engine cutoff and the electrical power in the car seemed to reset itself. As I was coming to a stop, I could feel the brakes not working and I put the car into park and tried to restart the engine by pushing on the start/stop button. When that didn't work, all the power in the car went out and nothing worked, no emergency lights, no power anything. I called roadside assistance and had them tow to the nearest dealership. This is the second time this has happened. The first was on Sunday night September 6th, 2015 at around 8pm in san jose. I put that as a complaint on this system at that time.

Had a similar problem earlier today while taking the car out to get dinner. As I was approaching the freeway exit my car suddenly stalled and the steering wheel seemed to stiffen and the navi screen went out then back on. I pulled over emergency lane and waited to see what would happen and music continued up again from the usb port but I couldn't change the song. On the navi screen where usb setting is saying " initialization failed". so I pulled the usb stick to reset it and got it to work. I was able to go to dinner then drive back home without incident. But later on that night I tried to start my car but as soon as I hit the start button everything died. No power to anything no alarm no use of keyless entry no power at all. Then I come back to the car a few hours later that night and open the trunk manually with the key to get something and as soon as I slam the trunk down all the power came back hids, brake lights, lexicon system music playing. Except when I try to turn on the engine with the start button it won't start. Then everything shuts off like before I'm at a loss. But eeriely I been having problems like the previous poster with topping of gas issues because the car doesn't know when to stop pumping gas sometimes when full and a few times the car spewed out some fuel. I'm not sure if that is related to my recent stall incident but I've plans to driving from san jose back home to los angeles tomorrow on labor day and I'm scared to. What if the car stalls on mountain freeway over pass and it stalls and lose steering and brakes. I don't know if the dealer is even open labor day. What should I do? help!

My hydraulic module was replaced August 2014 under warranty because of brake system failure. When I drove the car out from the dealership my power steering was not working at low speed. I have no power steering when backing out my drive way or at low speed like in a parking lot. I have been afraid to notify them because they lied about the hecu, and did not say it was an issue covered by recall. They said they would cover the replacement of the hecu under their "" goodwill "" funds. The car has 73856 miles as today. I have been afraid to drive it except close to home in case the power steering completely fails. Only 1209 miles since August 2014. Todays date 13 April 2015.

I was coming to a stop in traffic, the engine RPM was dropping, and wanted to change lanes. Upon accelerating I attempted to turn the steering wheel and I lost power steering, almost collided with other vehicles and was close to being hit by oncoming traffic. This has happened many times with this vehicle. I am speaking out now because I have seen NHTSA campaign number: 15V100000 and it sounds like what my vehicle does.

I was driving out of my community to an appointment I had with Hyundai dealership to check brakes when I missed right turn.I stopped the car put it in reverse using camera as my visual.I noticed I was getting closer to curb and sidewalk so I turned my body to my right and saw there was a big tree close to sidewalk.I was turning back to normal driving position and applying the brakes at same time when the pedal went completely to the floor, the steering moved to the right, never stopping the car. I heard a loud crashing noise and my body being severely jerked back and forth. I noticed the auto collapsing head rest popped up.I removed my seat belt put the car into park and went to see the damage.sure enough I had hit the tree which showed no sign of damage but the rear bumper on the passenger side was severely damaged, quarter panel was blown out and top of the trunk middle right was actually ripped and torn.I was determined to see why the brakes failed so I drove the car without any brakes and miraculously made it to dealership.one of service girls saw my damaged car and asked what happened.I told her brakes failed. She told me not to worry because they will fix car without any charge because thats how Hyundai treats their customers. I asked if there were recalls on the car, she said no.they told me my car will be ready next day.I went next morning and asked for the report on car which said brake fluid was changed twice and brakes failed twice.the service tech noticed auto anti locking brake module failed.he put in a new one, replaced braking fluid for third time, test drove the car and said brakes ok.when driving car brakes felt better.at home I started to feel light headed and few days latter back and neck pains started to get worse. Pain was so bad I went to urgent care center, gave me an injection and predizone for inflammation and pain.I'm under pain doctors care.

I missed my right hand turn that I usually make to exit my community, so I stopped and put the vehicle in reverse using the backup camera as a guide. I noticed that I was getting too close to the sidewalk curbing and I noticed a large tree not to far from the curbing, so I turned my body around to my right side to get a visual look. While I was doing this I put my foot on the brake pedal, turned my body back to a normal driving position and the brake pedal went right to the floor never stopping the vehicle.the steering wheel suddenly moved to the right and then I heard a large sound ( the rear end of the vehicle crashing into the tree that I saw.) all of this that happened took about seven to ten seconds!! I released my seat belt and got of the car to see the damage. The rear end of the bumper on the passenger side was severely damaged, the quarter panel on the same side was blown out and the top of the trunk toward the right side was actually ripped and dented. Ironically I had an appointed with the dealership to check the brakes the same day of the accident. I was determined to find out why the brakes failed. So I drove the vehicle knowing I had no brakes and miraculously made it to the dealership. The service personal saw how badly the vehicle was damaged and I explained to them what had happened.one of the girls in service department, I don't remember her name, completed the paper work and I was told I had to leave the vehicle.she also told me that there would no charge for any repairs because thats how Hyundai treats their customers thats' when old light bulb went off and I asked her if there were any recalls on vehicle and she said no. The next day I saw the repair form and that brake fluid was replaced twice and failed twice.he noticed that the auto antilock braking system module failed. He replaced that brakes O.K. I received back injury, under doctors care.

On July 15th while driving my 2009 Hyundai Genesis, I found myself upside down in a ditch on a country road. Witnesses stated I was not speeding. I was fully alert when they approached, having released my seatbelt, turned off the motor, unlocked the doors. Subsequent heart, cranial etc exams resulted in a possible diagnosis of syncope. I wonder if there have been other reports on this vehicle?

Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) I bought the new Hyundai Genesis (motor trend of the year 2009). I soon realized (within 200 miles of new car ownership) that car was pulling to the left (sever pull) and to maintain a constant pressure to the right side on the steering (steering at 15 degree right angle) to maintain car drive straight. Very soon I researched the unique problem. Almost all Hyundai Genesis owners have made similar complaints to Hyundai dealers. Hyundai has been hiding a huge potential problem with new Genesis model (2009). Many owners have been complaining and no action is being taken by the company. Hyundai is trying to blame this issue on tires - that is deflect their issue to someone else. But this is not the case. To verify, research this problem by google.com - "Hyundai Genesis steering issue and left or right pull" and you will get more than hundred similar complaints from new owners since 2008/2009 model release. I have been to the dealer 3 times to fix this issue within 3000 miles - but Hyundai dealers are just performing alignments - but doesn't fix the problem. We need help from NHTSA (government) as thousands of customer like myself are stuck - and a powerful foreign corporation is unwilling to budge!! please help - I am willing to donate my car for your testing. But this is a disaster waiting to happen as steering doesn't drive straight and veers of to left (or right). Do americans need to die before you take any actions? please call me [xxx] to discuss. Thanks.

Have 2009 Hyundai Genesis and had a big problem with the car pulling to the left and then the right. Has been at the dealership over 5 times, multiple repairs of alignment and can't correct the issue. I even had 3 independent shops evaluate and then confirm issue and now Hyundai states they can no longer confirm problem. They were surprised when I produced the independent opinions. I will not place my family in this vehicle. Hyundai needs some pressure to correct this issue and their behavior has been appalling. I realized this issue the day after I picked up the car and Hyundai has been very resistant to help but I think it is because they can not correct the problem.
